Zap Em October 17, 2009 Oxygen (USA) Bright night light. Buzzing sound emits when on. Loud when bugs are zapped. You can actually see and smell the smoke when bigger moths/bugs meet their demise - entertaining for teenaged boys. Only used a few times at end of bug season here so can not comment on longevity of unit. Reduced amount of gnats and other various flying bugs from entering our home, which was purpose of purchase. Expect ants around the base, natures "circle of life". Did not use mosquito lure yet. If you don't have an extention cord, plan on purchase of one. I went down to home depot and picked up their required heavy gaged cord (sorry, can't recall the numbers/code the paper work specified for it). Seems like a sturdy unit. Glad I'll have it ready to go for next summer.
Flowtron BK-80D September 25, 2009 Been There & Done That Save your money on this product!!! Mine worked for 2 weeks and stopped working. They sent me parts to fix it the first time, which did not correct the problem. It was then sent back to the factory which took them 3 weeks to return it. It work the same as when I sent it, meaning nothing was done.It was sent back to the manufacturer again and I requested a new unit or send me my money back. After having it for two more weeks, I called to find the status. They informed me that a new unit was going to be sent the next day. Not receiving the shipment after 8 more days, I called again and they said it was just shipped today and should arrive next week. Based on past permormance I have my doubts. Two weeks of operation and 2 1/2 months later, I still do not have a unit and mosquito season is over!!
Light flashes...bugs die... September 19, 2009 B. Lynn Stubblefield (Nashville, TN USA) For the first few evenings of use, I had the Flowtron 80 hanging from a Shepard's Hook that had once held a flowering plant. This placed the unit about four feet off the ground and the kill rate, while acceptable, was not a great success. It should be higher and mobile. I rescued an old deck umbrella holder and piece of PVC pipe about eight feet long, a 90 degree fitting and another piece of PVC approximately twelve inches long. Screw a small eyebolt into the short piece of PVC and there it stands. A moveable Flowtron 80 holder. The electronic device is working properly, attracting and zapping each bug that comes within it's zone of influence. After I worked the "bugs" out, I also used the other reviewer's suggestion to enlarge the openings, this is a bug killing machine...Lynn, in Nashville...
Kills bugs! September 14, 2009 Jermey Moore (Greenville, SC) Does what it says and that's killing bugs. I normally put bait around or inside mine to attract yellow jackets (bacon or rib bones), and that seems to work very well!
I originally got it for Mosquito's, but not really sure if it's killing many of those when it zaps them it's likely it will be hard to find the body of a Mosquito though. The lures for Mosquito don't seem to work IMO I don't ever really see Mosquito's flying around it.
Honestly not sure if there are any sure fire methods to combat Mosquito's that don't cost a ton.
Incredible Zapper !!! September 1, 2009 B. Chesterson (West Central indiana) This is the best bug zapper I have ever seen. It has cleaned out most all of the nighttime bugs in my 3+ acre yard which is surrounded by woods and a creek. My bats aren't too happy due to the major decrease of thier buffet every night!!!! This light has surveved several strong thunderstorms with heavy rain, lightening, and strong winds.....While still plugged in! Would reccommend this light to anyone who is serious about ridding their yard of bugs !!! A+++
