Amazon.com Review Housed in high-tech blue plastic, this alarm clock is far more sophisticated than its cute appearance may lead one to believe. Whether you check on the time by consulting the clock's LCD screen or by looking at a large red-light projection of the time beamed onto a wall or ceiling, you'll know it's accurate. That's because the clock is equipped with a radio receiver tuned to the U.S. Atomic Clock, and keeps time with split-second accuracy by automatically adjusting, if necessary, to the Atomic Clock's signals six times every 24 hours. From those signals, the 5-1/4-by-4-1/2-inch clock (2-1/2 inches thick) not only shows the precise time, but also displays the date and day, with automatic adjustment for daylight-saving time and leap year, according to the North American time zone for which the clock is set. (The day can be shown in English, Spanish, or French.) The red-light projection makes it possible to check the time without squinting. If the clock is in battery mode (two AA batteries required but not included), pressing the clock's snooze bar will beam the time onto the ceiling for five seconds--and also backlight the LCD screen. If the clock is plugged into a wall socket with an AC adapter (included), the projection and backlighting will be available either for five seconds with the snooze bar or continuously if a continuous-beam control is set. As a backup, you can set the time, day, and date manually as well as automatically. --Fred Brack

love this clock March 19, 2010 c dom (cool, ca United States) I purchased this clock for the temperature feature. I wanted a clock that I could take with us on our fishing trips, so I knew how cold it was when I got up in the morning. I was not too thrilled about the projection feature. I like to sleep in a dark room. The thought of having the time displayed on the ceiling in red sounded annoying. But I have to tell you, I love this feature! And, you can always turn the projection feature off, if you don't want to use it. Best of all. I don't have to squint to see what time it is anymore.
A wonderful clock . . . March 9, 2010 John C. Hughes I was tired of craning my neck in bed to see the time and purchased the Oregon Scientific self-setting clock for the projection feature. I was so pleased with its performance I immediately purchased another clock as a replacement in my office. I have subsequently purchased six more clocks, which I gave as gifts.
I heartily recommend this wonderful product.

Okay, but has problems March 3, 2010 Brandon Konkle (Lewisville, TX) This clock is okay for the price, but the model we received doesn't have a working backlight on the front display. I tried contacting the company through the email address on their website, but it came back as undeliverable. For me, it's not worth the trouble to try to send back to Amazon to exchange for another one, and I'm just using it for the time projection, so I'm using it as-is. Based on other reviews I've read, though, it's not uncommon to get a defective unit, so keep that in mind.
Really good alarm clock ! February 17, 2010 J. Santiago Torres I been using this alarm clock for 2 years now and I have no complaints about it. Doesn't go out of time, it synchronizes itself. It projects the time in big red numbers in the ceiling so when I wake up in the middle of the night all I have to do is look up and I know the time. The alarm is annoying enough to wake me up (that's a good thing) and the snooze button gives me 8 more minutes of sleep, lol. Also it tells the temperature. Really good alarm clock!
On down the road 5 years February 13, 2010 Di Allen-Thompson (Norfolk, VA, USA) This clock was given to me as a gift about 5 1/2 years ago. It has worked just fine all that time until about 6 months ago when the LED lights for the projection apparatus started going out...we have to guess at the minutes now, and the hour is also starting to go. For the money, however, it worked well for 5 years.
