| Customer Reviews: Won't garden without it February 21, 2010 LDS (Corning, CA) I have used grow covers for years now and I wouldn't garden without it. It is great for protecting new seeds and young seedlings and extending the season. I have grown lettuce under grow cover and wouldn't grow it any other way. I have lettuce pretty much year round here in Northern California because of the grow cover. We had a deep freeze the first week of December 2009 and my lettuce kept on growing. In fact I never remove it from my lettuce beds as it reflects the heat of summer better than any shade cloth and we get over 100 degrees for most of July. I usually spray the cover with water during the heat of the day and it keeps my lettuce beds cool. I can also start my warm season seeds about a month earlier if they are covered with grow cover. And once the days get up to 85 degrees the cover comes off my beans, peppers and tomatoes. It does protect your crops from the birds, slugs and snails and other hungry critters. I use mine over hoops that I make with 1-inch drip tubing and have found if I use 2x4's to hold it down instead of poking holes in it to hold it to the ground, it last me several seasons. It's great stuff and worth the investment....
plant cover January 9, 2010 Terry Eisenstadt (Schertz, TX) I like this plant cover because rain and sunshine can go through it. However, it is very thin so for a deep freeze another cover needed to be put over it.
great product January 7, 2010 L. Blackburn Used it over my corn and squash plantings, kept the bugs and birds out while seeds germinated. Worked really well. This was my first year using this product and you can bet that it won't be my last!
prevented lettuce from bolting July 12, 2009 T. Burkes 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the first year I tried a floating cover for lettuce. Usually, lettuce bolts in early summer for me, but the cover slowed that process down considerably this year. It is now mid-July, and we are still enjoying lettuce from under the cover. I also had less bird and squirrel damage than usual. The material is sturdy, so I won't have any trouble re-using it next year, so I think the expense was justified. I just used some old metal garden markers to anchor the cover around the edges.
this is great product January 6, 2009 TONY AQUILANO (san diego, ca) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
i'm using this cloth to make the walls of my greenhouse, and it works great as sun goes in but it is hard to see what i'm growing-if you get my drift
