I bought this just for the sticky cards, which are very little and don't catch anything but your fingers when you try to use them. The sticky comes off very easily.
The best way I found out while waiting a long time for delivery was to take a small jar, make two small holes in the lid and put about 1 1/2 inch of cider vinegar with 2-3 teaspoons of sugar and watch the gnats fly in. The first two days I caught about 40. Then I used insect liquid mixed with water on my indoor plants, and now I haven't seen any gnats.
