 Thermacell really works September 2, 2009

Last night I witnessed Thermacell in action. We were camping at Kettle Marian, Ottowa Lake sight in Wisconsin. After a rainy summer the mosquitoes exploded at 5:45 PM. We had a patio room set up on our camper and there must have been 50 or so mosquites hanging on the screens. I was bit 3 times so fast I could't believe it. I lit off my thermacell and was shocked at the reaction. Most of the mosquitoes left within 15 minutes. Those that did not fell to the floor and died. Only 1 mosquito came in after that and it cleared out pronto not biting anything.

first use was at a bon fire in a clearing with very little wind. I could see a small sream of smoke flowing from the unit toward the fire about 6 ft away. the unit was on and next to me on the ground for about an hour before my 1st mosquito bite. five min latter a second bite convinced me to leave. I can't say its really effective. Certainly no more than a mosquito coil. It will now become a gift for my bowhunting son as a scent dispenser.

I bought this to bring up to our house in Maine that's on the water. It's been a VERY wet summer so I knew the mosquitoes would be awful. I put this on our patio when we would have cocktails at sundown (the worst time for mosquitoes) and it worked like a charm. No bites! Last summer I used "Off" and I still ended up with 20 bites by the end of the holiday week. This summer I used this product and only had one bite - AND I'm fairly certain I got that bite when the Thermacell wasn't turned on. I will absolutely be using this product again. My only concern is having small children around. My 2 year old niece tried to touch it and almost burned herself. You must be very aware if there are children anywhere nearby. However, there's no question THIS PRODUCT WORKS. I've never seen anything that works better.

The mosquitos have been horrible lately. We get a lot of visitors, living out in the country, and everyone wants to enjoy the cool WA air at night. I knew the mosquitos were horrible with the strange weather this year so I covered from head to toe and still managed to get 5 mosquito bites on my hands in under and hour. We went and purchased a few of these little machines so it would cover a larger area and it worked perfectly and not one person inside the radius of the Thermacell has been bitten since. It also worked great for pesky flies when we were having meals outside. Absolutely love this thing especially since I thought there was no way this would actually work.

We have had ours now for 2 years, and tell eveyone we can to buy one. I love it and use it every weekend when we sit outside by the fire. I have never needed to put any bug spray on and for NH that is really good. It will also keep away the black Fly's..
