Figured it out...
Doesn't like hubs or USB extension cables. It would charge with either of these but would not sync (with my Mac).
Plugged directly in, no problem.
For me its no problem after I figured this out, but as I said before I'd have to give it lower marks for being so sensitive over such small issues.

...at least with mine.
I had a USB extension cable in order to run it in back of my desk.
Its still a deal-breaker that this thing is so sensitive that something like an extension cable will make it not work.
We'll see if this in fact was the issue and I'll post my follow-up.

This dock allows me to plug in my iPhone when its in its protective case...something all the others will not allow.
However it does not like hubs, at least the unpowered one I plugged it into, thats the only reason I gave it 4 stars.
Other than that its great, small footprint, pretty minimalist when the phone is resting on it.
I'm happy with this purchase.

Charges fine but drops me every time when I go to sync.
Starts to sync (sometimes) but after a few seconds it drops me...
Well, back to the search for a product that will charge with the case still on!

The cradle construction is alright, the finish is cheap, specially the power sticker that almost looks like a sticker you should take off... Docking the iPhone on the plug is delicate, you really need to concentrate, I get a feeling you can end up damaging the iPhone. It has enough space so I don't need to remove the iPhone's protective cover. If you need a simple cradle, this may be enough, but it won't look classy or spiffy on your desk.

I rate this 5 stars - for what I needed it does a great job. I was looking for something I could sit on my desk and charge my iPhone 3GS with a case on it. It also does a good job at allowing you to push the iPhone buttons and not feel like you are going to break off the adapter. I have a JBL On Stage Speaker/cradle and I have to take my phone out of the case and when I go to change songs and I touch the face, I have to be very careful. But that is a different story (I love the sound of that and rate it highly but again that is a different story). I don't know anything about the syncing problems that others have had. What I like about it is the adapter is not fixed. It can be plugged into the phone and then slightly leans back into the base. It looks like the base would accomodate almost any type of case around your iPhone (you really need to protect your iPhone with a case). I have a nice CaseMate leather case (again this is for a different review) and the Seidio works great with it on. My wife has a clamshell plastic case and it handles it too. So if you are looking for a nice cradle/dock, give this one a look. I am totally pleased. I don't write many reviews either.
