 A must for those needing extra power for media players November 7, 2009

I bought two of these. Couldn't beat the price. They are small, about the size of a pack of Trident or Dentine chewing gum. They come with a standard male USB to mini male USB cable. They work great with my touch-screen media player. I couldn't give them a Palm Pre rating as I don't own a Palm but otherwise they are pretty good. Time will tell how long they will last but I assume they will have a charge-recharge cycle like any other Lion battery.
The one small drawback to these babies is there is a switch that you have to turn on when you are ready to use them as an additional battery. The instructions caution to remember to turn the switch off when not in use to prevent unintended discharge of the Lion battery. The switch is the reason for the four star "Ease of Use" rating. Maybe I am being picky but it is just a little annoying having to remember to turn that switch off. I would think that they could have built-in an auto-on sensor that would detect when the battery was attached to a device and turn it on.
Once the unit is connected to your device and switched on there is a dual colour LED that indicates the relative amount of power left in the Duracell battery. It's green when full power is available and it turns orange when the power is getting low.
My son tried one with his iPhone and said it didn't work. I don't see why it wouldn't and haven't had a chance to investigate but I suspect he might have forgotten to turn on the power switch mentioned above.
 Great battery but cord doesn't work with Palm Pre November 1, 2009

I bought this for my Palm Pre, because it said it was compatible with most phones. It isn't with the Pre. So, I had to buy a different cord to use the battery part. Otherwise it is a great item. It is thin enough to carry in one's purse or even some wallets. It charges quickly on a laptop and makes traveling much more convenient.

I got one of these as a trial unit and realized this would make a great gift or stocking stuffer! It is very small and seems to hold about two charges for an iPhone refill. Since it has a USB port, any USB device should be able to charged with it.

Initially, I was very pleased with this device. After further testing, however, I am not so happy. While it still works for charging my camera and Archos, it does not charge my PSP, and only works with certain USB to mini-USB cords. I have found that my devices will not recognize the charger if I use the wrong cord. This is obnoxious to say the least. Not bad, but not as universal as they claim.

What was not obvious to me from the spec and reviews, is that this is not plug-compatible with the iphone/ipod. You need to supply your own iphone/ipod cable in order to charge the device. Using a cable means it's not as convenient to use the device during charging, unlike other batteries which simply snap onto the iphone.
