Works well enough. November 24, 2009 Alan Wood As the informercial suggests, it cooks one serving in each side. It's easy to clean up , and cooks faster than and cooks faster than an oven and better than a microwave.
I bought mine at Target, so I didn't have to deal with shipping costs.
Close Shave October 11, 2009 R. Billings (Ada, Oklahoma USA) I'm rating this gadget on the basis of the customer complaints.
I was in the process of ordering it, but stopped to read the reviews.
It looks good in the pictures, but turns out to be about as popular as swine flu.
How can Amazon (who I would really like to trust) offer this to us when it has gotten such poor acceptance? Don't they read their own reviews?
I cancelled my order which I had already started.

Worthless customer service and next to worthless machine. September 12, 2009 Spitfire (Virginia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We purchased this unit in person September 5, 2009 from Le Gourmet Chef in Hagerstown MD. We followed instructions in the manual to get it ready and proceeded to cook with it. We loved the thing and used it to cook several small meals.
On September 7, 2009 we noticed that the non-stick coating was flaking off in numerous places, even though we had only used the plastic half-moon spatula that they furnished with the machine. My wife called the customer support phone number shown on the warranty page of the manual (1-800-357-9213) and was very rudely told that they don't actually furnish any warranty service and to take the unit back to the store where we bought it. This is unacceptable; the store we bought it from is 75 miles from our home and not anywhere near our usual travel routes.
I'm attempting to resolve with GT Xpress and Giaim at the moment, but it's not looking too good, so either I sue them, make a long road trip to return it to the retailer we bought it from or forget about it. Too bad too - we really liked the way this thing cooked single portions.
UPDATE - 11/24/2009
After a few emails back and forth with the parent company Giaim, I was issued a formal apology for the bad treatment from the GT Xpress folks. The Giaim rep got us a new machine sent out gratis and so far (about 2 months) this one is doing fine. The whole experience left a bad taste in our mouths but at least Giaim made good on the warranty. Hopefully the new machine will last for years.

I really resent it when a company sells their product in stores (in this case, Target), and the sign clearly says, "As shown on TV," but doesn't tell you this is an outdated model -- not the one currently showing on TV.
The product has many flaws that make it so unsafe, I'm amazed they're allowed to manufacture it. First of all, there's no shut-off button, so you have to pull out the plug every time you're done. It's been fixed in the later model, so that was a disappointment. And there's no automatic shut-off, in case you've pulled out the wrong plug by mistake.
Secondly, the thermostat doesn't work well. After a few uses, it started overheating. When cooking a couple of eggs, the eggs are boiling and bubbling, and don't taste right -- it's too hot, and there's no way to regulate time or temperature. Heat-up biscuits -- they're burning on the outside while they're still raw on the inside.
Unlike the later model, this one's cooking surface cannot be removed for cleaning. It's not only inconvenient, I think scrubbing it might have damaged the thermostat (mentioned above).
So it's poorly designed and impractical. The later model seems to address some of these concerns -- but after being "burned" once, I don't think I want anything to do with this company. They palmed off their outdated stock on me, so I won't be dealing with them again.
Pretty good for $5 August 7, 2009 someonesdad 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
It sounds like the company that makes this is a master at trying to rip people off. I sure wouldn't pay $30 or $40 for one of these. This thing would cost about $5 or $6 to make in China in high volume, perhaps less. It should realistically sell for $15-$20.
However, my wife picked one up at the local thrift store for $5. It has become a favorite item for making quick and easy meals. Clean up is easy when you spray with vegetable oil before cooking. Just wipe it down with a wet rag. Use only plastic or wood implements because it's easy to remove the non-stick coating.
If I was a single person, I'd love this device, as I could prepare a meal and be eating in 10 minutes or less and not have much clean up. We use it a lot for lunches.
Here are some favorite things to make in it.
Put in leftover turkey, mashed potatoes, and dressing. Cook for 5 minutes and you'll have a great mixture to be eaten with some cranberry sauce.
Put some chili and beans in a flour tortilla, fold it up, and cook it until it's slightly browned.
Mix up some pancake batter and pour a little in. Put in a good filling (chili, potatoes and meat, vegetables, whatever's handy), then cover up with more batter. Close lid and cook. Makes fluffy pancakes that our daughter loves.
Mix up some cake mix and pour it in. Quickly makes handy little cakes (test with a toothpick).
You get the idea. Find a used one cheap and have fun with it.
