Amazon.com Review The title, Baby Owners Manual, suggests the promise and the problem of this cheeky and comprehensive guide written by a pediatrician and his son. First-time parents who are not offended by the observation that "babies, unlike other appliances, lack instruction manuals," will find a rich resource of facts and advice. The book is divided into seven categories of "operating instructions" including home installation, feeding and power supply, sleep mode, maintenance, development, and safety. Complete with witty schematic drawings and charts, the authors answer hundreds of questions about breastfeeding, bed, bath, and beyond. While most manuals focus on tender loving care, the authors chose to focus on baby as technology. The result is a highly useful--almost too cool--reference book. Because every parent knows that babies are messier and more rewarding than this approach imagines. --Barbara Mackoff

Cute book November 15, 2009 S. Tyo I bought this as a gift for my techy brother who has a wife that is expecting (their first). it is actually full of good information (how to swaddle a baby, monitoring bowel movements, it even has sweet-looking growth charts). and it is presented in a fun format.
Liked so much we are back for another! October 9, 2009 J. Mitchell I bought this book for my computer and car geek husband, and surprisingly we both ended up enjoying this book a lot. Some books like these have more humor at the loss of practical information, but this offers both in a very easy to read fashion. We liked it so much I am buying it for my friends are also first time parents.
Entertaining but not comprehensive September 23, 2009 Esra Kendir Gãkcan The language/tone/ style of the book is really fun and esasy to get but it's not a comprehensive/ elaborate book..
Do not expect full information on everything but you can read for fun and a brief summary of the topics..
Cute and funny September 8, 2009 Mari (Atlanta, US) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A lot of reviews touched on how the whole calling the baby 'the model' got old, and the book made the baby an object rather than a human being, etc. This is true, but the thing is that I think it was part of the goal of the book! I thought it was comical, cute, funny and entertaining! If you are looking for the definitive read on babies, this is probably not it. However, I will say that this is the ONLY book my husband read!! AND enjoed! It makes the topic entertaining, and visual! And while it may not be the definitive read on the topic, or the most thorough (maybe) after reading several baby books, I found that this one did manage to cover pretty much everything, just in a more entertaining memorable fashion. I would highly recommend it, ESPECIALLY to women who want their male partners to read SOMETHING! :) (The four stars is just because I would still say there are better books on the topic for the interested pregnant ladies out there!)
Funny and amazingly helpful. August 8, 2009 James Thomas (Victoria, TX USA) I originally bought this as a joke, but when our son was born we were surprised to find that not one question has come up that this book did not cover. I thumb through it regularly and always find some great new tip. We are buying more to give as gifts.
