 An All-In-One Ladder November 14, 2009

I needed an all purpose interior & exterior ladder for my new home. Because I have a high 11 foot living room ceiling the need for a step ladder at least 8 foot tall was a must. The Werner MT-22 does it all. While I will probably never need 22 feet of extension it's comforting to know this ladder will easily handle any job you give it. It's built like a battleship and is as secure as the rock of gibraltar. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was it's on the heavy side at 42 pounds and no leg wheels for easier mobility. Never the less, I'm glad I bought it. And at $179 from Amazon, it was the best price by at least $20 with free shipping. My only concern was it shipped only partially wrapped in the manufacturers heavy plastic wrap. I would have preferred it boxed to protect the plastic feet and to keep it clean. However, Fed-Ex delivered it in perfect condition. If you're looking for an all-in-one ladder to handle any job inside or outside your home, give the Werner MT-22 a serious look. Werner also makes shorter and longer models if this one doesn't fit your bill. Trust me, it will be the last ladder you ever buy.
 Prefer Little Giant for one Reason - THE WHEELS November 13, 2009

This is a good ladder. But it is EXTREMELY HEAVY - amazingly so for an aluminum ladder. I purchased this ladder for home use. But it is so heavy, that I look for any other alternative before pulling this ladder out of the garage. - A neighbor has the same size ladder made by Little Giant. I've borrowed and used his ladder a number of times, before buying the Werner ladder. (Boy, did I make a mistake!)
The wonderful thing about The Little Giant version of this ladder is that IT HAS WHEELS. It's just as heavy as the Werner ladder, but with the wheels, moving it from the garage to the site I'll be using it is easy. It handles just like a wheelbarrow. (And when in use the wheels are not in contact with the ground.)
If price is the only deciding factor, then buy the Werner ladder. If overall convenience and long term acceptable use is your goal, buy the WHEELED Little Giant version.

This ladder is okay if you don't have to use it everyday. It is way too heavy. Gorilla and Little Giant are two brands that make models with the same capacity and length that are lighter. I just returned mine to Home depot because the hinge began to bind and metal shavings were coming out of it. The hinge got so tight I could no longer open or close it. It is probably okay for a homeowner, but not for somebody who uses it alot for work as I do, an insurance adjuster.

Glad I bought the taller ladder - didn't figure that when it was folded in 3rds it would not be as high, so definitely needed the 22 ft.
