Product Description There's a hidden fire hazard in almost every home...it's the dryer vent! Over time, your dryer vent fills with lint that sneaks by your dryer's filter. Fires can occur when lint builds up in the dryer or in the exhaust duct. Lint can block the flow of air, cause excessive heat build-up, and result in a fire in some dryers. The LintEater was designed for the homeowner by a leading manufacturer of professional duct-cleaning equipment. It effectively removes dangerous lint build-up in almost every type of dryer vent system, and it's easy to use with your cordless drill. The rotating action of the Auger Brush and flexible rods will traverse the multiple turns that are common in most vent systems. The included adapters allow you to use the air from your dryer, or a shop vacuum/ blower to completely remove the lint from the vent while rotary brushing. Four 36 inch long flexible rods screw together to reach into dryer vents up to 12 feet from one end. Self-feeding 4 inch diameter Auger Brush attaches to the flexible rods and makes multiple turns to thoroughly scour your vent clean. High quality bristles retain shape for repeated use. Blockage Removal Tool removes heavy blockages, such as animal nests, or attaches to several rods and a cordless drill to clear out clogged downspouts from ground level. Large 2 ½ inch diameter Lint Trap Brush will reach 42" when connected to one rod, all the way to the bottom of your lint trap. Exceptional reach also makes it a snap to clean intake vents, underneath and all around your dryer. Use it around any appliance, remove cobwebs or connect more rods for any hard-to-reach area around your home. Safely and easily conforms to tight areas like baseboard heating vents. Vacuum Adapter connects a standard 2 ¼"hose shop vac or blower to completely remove lint while rotary brushing. Dryer Adapter uses the dryer air to remove lint while rotary brushing, if you don't have a shop vac or blower. Operator's Manual and Demo DVD has detailed

General Contractors November 13, 2009 Ronald G. Nader (Detroit) The Gardus RLE202 ( 10-Pc Set ) is an complete Unit with all necessary attachments, appropriately designed and manufactured, simplistic in ease of usage accomplishes each project regardless of differing situations. We highly recommend this Product for both Personal in home periodic cleaning of venting systems ( and ) by Professionals. It is the Best Manufacture Product we've discovered to date. Such well made products as the Gardus Unit may be considered Safety Equiptment and should be utilized as part of regular Home Maintenance. Bargain Priced !
A Useful if Somewhat Flawed Laundry Dryer Duct Cleaner. October 17, 2009 S. Diamond (Oak Park, IL United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a useful, if flawed, laundry dryer vent cleaning package, though it may be worthwhile if you have a long, complicated duct. The main cleaning unit is a set of four 36" flexible plastic rods and two brushes. The rods have metal threaded mounts allowing the rods to screw together and for the attachment of one of the brushes. After detaching the duct from the dryer the rods with brush are attached to a drill and run through the entire duct and outside vent. Unfortunately the rod has a tendency to pop out of the drill. The metal caps on the rods appear too thick to be securely held by the drill. I used a 3/8" cordless 18 volt drill with the torque reduced. Gardus should provide a "reducer" that would attach to one of the rods to improve the fit with the drill. On the positive side, the items are reasonably well made, with detailed instruction on both paper and DVD. One of the brushes can be used to clean out the lint trap vent, though I didn't find it that effective.
If you have a short, simple laundry dryer duct, you may have somewhat cheaper alternatives to the Gardus. If your duct is made from foil or vinyl, they are not considered safe, and so not worth cleaning. You need to replace them with a stiff or flexible sheet metal duct, the former preferred. If you already have a flexible sheet metal duct of less than eight feet, a replacement duct with pressure clamps is only about $10. With a short metal duct you can use a leaf blower to clean the detached duct, though some lint residue may still adhere to the duct's inner wall. Make sure the vent between the wall and the outside is also clean. Before detaching the duct from the dryer you may also want to run the blower through the lint trap vent--after removing the screen. Finally, you should also vacuum out the duct entrance on the back of the dryer. The Gardus package includes a couple of adapters for both a shop vac and a leaf blower, but I didn't find them that useful.
Did the Job October 14, 2009 Howard S. Robins (Waterbury, CT United States) Worked like a champ. My dryer is really old and was in desparate need of having its "arteries" cleaned out. Having a good shop vac is important, as is access to the ends of the vent pipe. The bottom line is that not only did I remove a ton of lint and its fire hazzard, but probably added life to my dryer by making the exhaust vent out more easily. Worth the investment.
Excellent tool September 28, 2009 Frenchie in TN (Clarksville, TN) If your dryer takes longer to dry clothes than it used to, I strongly suggest you buy this product. This tool does the job. It's not one of those products sold on late night commercials that you never know if it really works. The linteater DOES work. It is simple to use and has clear instructions. It is designed to work with any 1/2" and 3/8" drill. You will be amazed at how much lint you'll get out of the vent, which makes me think of a piece of advice: consider buying the bag (Lint catcher) they sell for this job. It will catch all the lint coming out of the vent therefore preventing it from being blown in every direction, including your face. By the way, a dust mask and a pair of safety glasses are recommended while doing the job.
Works as advertised! September 12, 2009 Tim J (Upstate NY) Very happy with this product. I have a long dryer run (~28 feet) that had not been cleaned since I moved in a few years ago and I knew it was accumulating lint. I purchased this product and got to work. As others have noted, you need to be careful about how you attach the extensions. Don't add then all at once and then try to fed the extension in. I did one section at a time, fed it in, stopped the drill, disconnected the drill, added the next extension, reattached the drill. Worked like a charm. I also cleaned from both ends to make sure I got everything. Take the time to do this since you'll be surprised how much lint there is.
A couple things to note. Doing this will deplete a drill battery in no time. I burned through 2 18v batteries cleaning my vent. Maybe sure your batteries are fully charged before you start.
