Shingle Ridge Vent November 16, 2009

I purchased this product for a new garage. The ridge vent is used in conjunction with Attic Foil radiant barrier. Since the ridge vent is plastic and driving nails tight is tricky I opted to use #8d ring shank nails. The shingles I used are self sealing so the courses on each side of the peak of the ridge cap are not nailed when first applied. The first course on the ridge cap is trimmed to the peak then held in place with their sealing strip. The shingle ridge cap is then applied with #8d ring shank nails thru the first course. Will be waiting to see how everything works in a heavy rain. After ordering, I found that the makers of my shingles offered a ridge vent. Their instructions may have better explained how to cover the vent with shingles. Would show you great pictures of the installation but review editor does not allow upload of still pictures.
