Product Description Reduce ladder work and over-reaching while cleaning your gutters. Gutters need to be cleaned regularly to avoid water damage, overspills and ice dams. Plus, dirty gutters create a breeding ground for carpenter ants, mosquitoes and other pests. Now you can avoid climbing and repositioning a ladder multiple times while juggling tools and over reaching from dangerous heights. iRobot Looj makes regular gutter cleaning faster and easier. The iRobot Looj cleans up to 80 feet of gutter in minutes, not hours,it's the easiest way to keep gutters free-flowing all year round! Gutter cleaning is a dirty, unpleasant job. You have to repeatedly climb and move ladders, and reach from dangerous heights. But no more! Now you can do it all by remote control with the amazing new Looj robot gutter cleaner from iRobot. At just 2 1/4" tall, Looj propels itself easily under gutter straps and over downspout holes. Its three-stage, high-velocity auger breaks up clogs, lifting out leaves, pine needles and other wet or dry debris while brushing gutters clean. Wireless remote control has a 75-ft. range, moves the Looj forwards and backwards, and changes the rotational direction of the auger to ensure complete debris removal. Looj attaches to an included belt clip to free up your hands and make it easier for you to climb a ladder. Uses a high power, rechargeable battery pack (included). Remote uses two AAA batteries (not included).

Just Plain Disappointing October 30, 2009 Jason C. Ditz (Saginaw, MI United States) Having bought several "gutter cleaning" devices and watched as all of them failed, I had very low expectations for the Looj going in. Why does something so comparatively workaday seem to be next to impossible to create a technological solution for?
The Looj design is actually quite ingenuous. The little treads allow it to keep going through un-level gutters, and the remote has excellent range. The little guy is sturdy and easy to assemble.
The bad thing is, as with all the other devices, it doesn't work. Not even close to work. If you have a few leaves in a perfectly dry gutter, yeah...if you run it back and forth it'll probably eventually get everything out.
If he runs into a big pile of leaves he seems to either flip over, stall, or just climb over the top of the leaves (which is worse because it can fall out if the pile is too high). What he won't do is his job, which is to throw those leaves out of the gutter.
Other than chucking a little sludge into my face off the nearly empty edge of the gutter, it removed almost no leaves... but unlike the garden hose gutter cleaning attachment or the leaf blower's gutter cleaning kit, at least it was easy to assemble... and disassemble... and stick back in the box... and add it to the growing pile of failures.
Ever heard of a timer? October 18, 2009 Dana J. Parker Seriously, people - it's not hard to charge for exactly 15 hours. Just buy a timer, the kind you can use to turn your lights on and off when you're away. Set it and go about your life; when you're ready the Looj battery will be too. If iRobot had included a more sophisticated battery the price would be higher. Also, as an early adopter, you should expect these little glitches - someday you'll be telling your grandkids, "Back in my day, we had GUTTERS. We had to put batteries in gutter-cleaning robots BY HAND. And we had to CHARGE them on a TIMER."
I bought the Looj two years ago because I have one section of gutter that is an absolute pain to clean - and dangerous too. It's at the edge of a steep roof I cannot climb on, above an area where it's hard to get close to the gutter on a ladder. Bonus: it's under a whole row of ailanthus trees that drop leaves, twigs, seeds and branches. I am 55 and a single woman homeowner, and I do my home maintenance myself, so this looked perfect for me.
I just love it. It is not perfect, as other reviewers have already noted, but it is just so darn much fun. It wouldn't be nearly as much fun if it were automatic; you have to use it correctly, like any other tool. Skill comes with experience. I always use it on a nice Saturday so people walking by will ask me "What IS that thing?"
Last spring it stopped working. I had no trouble at all with customer support; they sent me a new unit right away, after I'd returned the old one. I was pretty happy since I bought my Looj refurbished from Woot!
I just got done cleaning a summer's worth of leaves, twigs and dirt out of the bad section of gutter. Instead of wearing myself out at the top of a shaky ladder, reaching over my head to lift debris out and onto my head and down my neck, moving the ladder a dozen times, I had fun blasting it out of the gutter by remote control while standing on a nearby section of flat roof.
Sometimes I wish there'd been a Looj back when my ex was convinced that cleaning the gutters once in five years entitled him to do nothing else whatsover in the way of chores. He'd have been up there with the Looj every month. But then, I wouldn't have had the fun of using it myself, and I might still be married to that lazy bum.
Great For The Price October 1, 2009 MRR (Grovetown,Georgia,USA) It worked great only complaint had nothing to do with the Looj but with the nails holding up my gutters. Some nails were not put in straight so the Looj could not make it under and I had to move the ladder to reposition the Looj. It did flip over a couple of times but sometimes would right itself mostly because I was moving it to fast.If I inched it forward and just let it sit until it cleared the leaves and kept repeating this it worked fine and it went thru some thick build up. If the brushes were a little stiffer and had a few more inserted it would be even better. The battery is what surprised me,I kept waiting for it to die but it never did. Wouldn't hesitate buying another but only around the price I paid.
Amazing device! July 15, 2009 D. Peterson I love this gadget! Now, a caveat. If you have modern gutters with internal mounting, it probably won't fit under the supports. My house is 35 feet wide with a gutter on the front and back. Couldn't use it on the front since it won't fit under the gutter mounts. Took me 2 hours by hand to clean the gutter, what with moving the ladder and climbing up and down.
My back gutter is the old style half round with supports underneath. It took me 8 minutes (yes, 8!) to clean the gutter! Yeah, it throws crap everywhere. What else does anyone think an auger is going to do? So you let the wet muck dry and sweep it up. It flipped over a couple of times, and continued to drive upside down, still cleaning the gutter. I found by reversing the auger, I could flip it back. My back gutter is the one I always hated doing by hand since I had to put the ladder on rooftops of some first floor bumpouts, and had a lot of problem reaching the muck. This makes it not only safe, but kind of fun.
Looj gutter cleaner July 1, 2009 dec (NC) iRobot 12101 Looj Electric Gutter Cleaning Robot
Looj was overcome by 3-yr build up in spots, but did quite well considering. I expect it to do much better when faced with a 1-yr accumulation.
