Amazon.com Jonathan Taylor Thomas stars as Jake, a shallow huckster attending college in Los Angeles who finds troubles aplenty and, eventually, redemption on a road trip home in this youth-oriented Christmas vehicle. The action begins with Jake dumped in the desert dressed in full Kris Kringle regalia as payback for a scheme gone wrong, making Taylor Thomas the second Home Improvement cast member to don a Santa suit for film. (The first, of course, was his TV dad Tim Allen in The Santa Clause, for those of you who snoozed through recent Christmases.) With Jake stuck in the dunes, his stranded girlfriend (Jessica Biel from TV's Seventh Heaven) accepts a ride from his rival and thus begin the cross-country shenanigans that lead to a Christmas sleigh ride in their shared New York hometown. Look for Gary Cole (a.k.a. Mike Brady in the movie version of The Brady Bunch) playing another wise father. Although it may be hard for adults to buy the diminutive Taylor Thomas as a college student (and what's with the high school lockers at the so-called college?), Taylor Thomas and Biel have plenty of swoon appeal for young fans 10 and up. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Love It January 9, 2009 Sandra G. Emerick I really like this movie. It has become one of my favorites to watch every year.
Another Christmas Favorite!!! December 5, 2008 Pumpkin Man Ever since I was a kid, I've liked this movie. My mom always makes us watch this around Christmas. It has an awesome storyline about a college student named Jake who never wants to go home for Christmas, but his dad calls and bribes him a 1957 Porsche if he's home at 6:00 Christmas Eve. At a college Christmas party, some bullies lead by Eddie, knock Jake out and put a Santa Claus suit on him. Jake goes through a lot trying to get home. Eddie takes Jake's girlfriend, Allie with him to go home for Christmas. Jake has to give presents to orphan kids, help a cop with his marriage, and enter a race with everyone wearing Santa suits. Will Jake get home in time? If you love Christmas, you'll love I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS!!!
Bah humbug! February 1, 2008 Amaranth (Northern California) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
"I'll be home for Christmas" stars former child star Jonathan Taylor Thomas. JT2 is a teenaged boy who'd rather not go home for Christmas to be with his family, since his father remarried 10 months after his mother died (if this were Shakespeare,he'd be bemoaning that his father would be warming the marital bed while his mother is barely cold in her grave) His father bribes him with a Porsche- in the spirit of Christmas giving.
As if an answer to his prayers, JT2 gets beaten up by bullies&stranded in the desert in a Santa outfit. Jessica Biel has a thankless role as JT2's girlfriend. She gets to be pretty, and that's all, folks. JT2 encounters cattle, elderly Tom Jones fans, and so on. It all makes for a boring odyssey.
"I'll be home for Christmas" has the power to make the hapless reviewer into an Ebenezer Scrooge.
