Product Description Used - Very Good
Amazon.com Brigitte Nielsen, as Conan creator Robert E. Howard's female warrior Red Sonja, gets an assist from Arnold Schwarzenegger in this enjoyably campy, Italian-lensed sword & sorcery adventure. Nielsen's thespian skills may be a bit stiff, but she certainly fills out the physical demands of the role, which asks her to look impressive with a sword as she avenges the death of her priestess sister and the theft of a sacred orb by an evil queen (Sandahl Bergman, also from the '82 theatrical Conan and a match for Nielsen's acting ability). Schwarzenegger (not playing Howard's barbarian king) lends some star power in a supporting role as a warrior assisting Sonja, and if the film stumbles in the acting, scripting, and special-effects departments, Richard Fleischer's direction and cinematography Giuseppe Rotunno are appropriately action-heavy and comic-book colorful (Fleischer also directed Conan the Destroyer and The Vikings); Ennio Morricone's bombastic score is another plus. --Paul Gaita

Red Sonja movie October 27, 2009 Bernice L. Kropf Love the movie. We have seen it several times and just had to have it on dvd.
Red Sonja September 11, 2009 Warren A. Robinson Tey did A great job on this movie I loved It. It came in very fast and in great condition.
Another Great Adventure Movie!! May 16, 2009 C. Tessler (Elgin, IL) This movie stands on its own with Bridget Nielsen as Red Sonja yet Arnnold Schwarzenegger plays the part of Kalidor the protector yet it does keep you on the edge of your seat but you must include a snobby prince along with his guardian per say but this action/adventure movie does have its moments: sword fights, romance and action/adventure in which i highly recommend that you get this movie you will not be disappointed whatsoever!!
Ahhhh, a refreshing Classic February 18, 2009 Phillip Reedy A movie thats as good today as when it first hit the TV! I would reccomend it to any one into movies like the Conan (Arnold) collection and others of the sort!
Where art thou Red Sonja? December 10, 2008 Kevis Hendrickson (Miami, Fl) Sadly, Red Sonja is the poster child for everything that is wrong with Hollywood attempts to create films based off of fantasy themes. Even with 80's action-star Arnold Schwarzenegger, Brigitte Nielsen, and Sandahl Bergman to front this movie, Red Sonja is a haphazard and mostly uninspired affair.
To me, the best thing about this film is the score by Ennio Morricone. The worst thing about this film is that it goes on and on and on and doesn't seem to want to end.
The acting, of course, is terrible. Let's not even talk about the screenplay! But even with all this baggage, I do find the film watchable and even likeable at times for its over-the-top 80's cheesiness.
Now that it's official that Hollywood is remaking Red Sonja, it's worth it to watch this film again just to remind ourselves that when a great fantasy film like The Lord of the Rings is bestowed upoon us, we should cherish every minute of it because good fantasy films, let alone of the calibur of "Rings", are very rarely ever made.
