Amazon.com Prudes won't survive a single minute of Martin Lawrence Live: Runteldat, but those who brave the journey will be duly--albeit conditionally--rewarded. This is surely the dirtiest comedy performance ever released to the general public, but beneath his barrage of profanity, crudeness, and unabashed sexual material, Lawrence gets into some serious truth about life's trials and tribulations, to which (he repeatedly observes) none of us are immune. The title's a hip-hop contraction of "run and tell that," and Lawrence runs and tells like a seasoned pro, expounding on his own misdeeds (arrest for disturbing the peace, substance abuse, his heatstroke-induced coma) and mining comedic gold from the hazards of marital candor under the influence of Courvasier. Lawrence is a better actor than a writer--his material's inconsistent, but his delivery is lose-your-lunch hilarious, digging gems of keen observation from life's messiest details. One might wish for greater substance, but Lawrence can runteldat with a righteous guilt-free conscience. --Jeff Shannon

Gift purchase August 30, 2009 QOTU86 (Katy, TX) I bought this from my daughter's wish list. It arrived timely and in condition stated. She has not complained about it so I'm sure she is enjoying it.
He can't shut the Blankety Blank Up! Constant F-word is excessive. Blabs but says nothing! January 6, 2008 Rizzo (Denver, CO) 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
Good God...This is horrible! Martin Lawrence yaps and yaps and yaps, but says nothing and certainly nothing funny!! I fell asleep...awoke 20 minutes later and still yapping without saying anything!!
First, let me address the excessive use of the F word. It's not funny!! Once in a while, it can be used in a funny manner. Literally, it's overused and very often used simply to fill the time.
How many times have we heard the family stuff, where the white kids didn't get whippings like their black counterparts? Overdone, we already know the joke before it spills out.
The sex stuff....Heard it hundreds of time, nothing new, not funny.
Martin Lawrence needs to get creative or get off the stage! This was pathetically bad.... If you want to listen to something that will have you in tears, try the Richard Pryor - Live in Concert AND Robin Williams - Live on Broadway. These two can use the F word effectively. That's what it takes, using it effectively and NOT excessively. ...Rizzo
Hilarious DVD October 27, 2007 Raul Ramsay Ibarra (Panama City, Panama) Martin Lawrence is a great stand-up performer. Great DVD, a lot of positive messages related to the regular behavior of the man in the society. A lot os fun. I couldn't stop laughing.
THE WORST STAND UP IN HISTORY June 27, 2007 J. Stewart 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
THIS HAS TO BE THE WORST GOD DAMN STAND UP I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. THE COMPANY THAT SELLS THIS DVD HAS TO HAVE SOME BALLS TO ACTUALLY CONSCIOUSLY SELL THIS TRASH. IF I COULD GIVE IT ZERO STARS I WOULD. YOU CAN LITERALY HEAR ABOUT 10 PEOPLE IN THE CROWD LAUGHING AND THE REST PROBABLY HAD ENOUGH SENSE TO GET UP AND LEAVE. NOT TO MENTION THAT IT HAS TO BE THE MOST RACIST B.S. THAT I'VE EVER HEARD. I'M A HUGE FAN OF CHAPPELLE AND HE DOES RACE COMEDY AND ITS HILARIOUS BECAUSE HE'S ACTUALLY TELLING A JOKE. THIS AS@#$%LE IS ACTUALLY A RACIST AND IS DEAD SERIOUS AND ISN'T EVEN JOKING IN THE SLIGHTIST. I'LL TELL U EXACTLY WHAT I DID AFTER I WATCHED THE FIRST 45 MIN. AND DID NOT LAUGH ONCE, BUT WAS MORE DISGUSTED THAN ANYTHING THAT I BOUGHT THIS GARBAGE. I TOOK THE DVD OUT OF THE PLAYER AND BROKE THE DAMN THING IN HALF AND THREW IT IN THE TRASH. YOU'LL HONESTLY GET 100X MORE ENJOYMENT LIGHTING THE MONEY YOU WOULD SPEND ON THIS ON FIRE.
Brutal on a new level April 30, 2007 A. Hughes (San Diego, California) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was such a big Martin fan after the TV show and his first comedy album (I actually bought it on cassette tape!) So I eagerly bought this one. It starts very good with a movie like re-cap of his career.
BUT then...
He gets on stage and he seems to think that saying the word Mother Effer is a punchline, because he must say these two words at least twice per sentence on average. It loses its kick very quickly. He just really didn't tell any well put together jokes. It was all attitude and arrogance.
Personally I felt like I was watching a cocky open micer trying to impress everyone by how much he could curse. You don't even hear the audience laughing during the performance.
