Product Description Columbia Pictures S.W.A.T (Blu-Ray) Two wisecracking, battle-hardened veterans (Samuel L. Jackson and Colin Farrell) team up with a pair of street-smart rookies (Michelle Rodriguez and LL Cool J) to form the most freewheeling - but effective - "S.W.A.T." team ever. Their first assignment: transport an international drug kingpin into federal custody - after he's offered $100 million to anyone who will free him!
Amazon.com Samuel L. Jackson and Colin Farrell swagger through S.W.A.T., a guns-and-big-trucks macho extravaganza based on the 1970s TV show of the same name, about the police teams brought in to take care of extremely dangerous situations. Jackson plays a sergeant brought out of retirement to form a new squad, which includes rebellious Farrell (The Recruit) and tough babe Michelle Rodriguez (Girlfight, Blue Crush). After a lot of training and head-butting with a smarmy police captain, the squad gets assigned to transfer the head of a European crime cartel (Olivier Martinez, Unfaithful) who's declared on television that he'll give $100 million to anyone who gets him out. Every scumbag in Los Angeles descends to claim the money, turning a routine transfer into a bullet-filled gauntlet. Despite some gaps in logic and a generic flavor, S.W.A.T. will satisfy most action-movie junkies. Also featuring LL Cool J and Josh Charles. --Bret Fetzer

Better than you might think August 2, 2009 One-Line Film Reviews (Easton, MD) The Bottom Line:
S.W.A.T. doesn't aim very high but it avoids many of the cliches of the genre while providing some fun scenes (e.g. a plane landing on a bridge) and enough character depth to make the actors more than just cardboard cutouts; if you're looking for some action you could do far worse.

dvd movie May 8, 2009 Walter King Seen it at the movies and on television....finally own it on dvd.
Like the dvd better.
Good old fashion American Action Movie February 6, 2009 Olde American (Richmond, Virginia) Great movie, Colin Farrell and Samuel L. Jackson are two bad a$$ American cops in Los Angeles (my current home town) when an effeminate French arms dealer tries to shmarm his way through town the LAPD takes him down (by coincidence because they check every last thing and get him for a broken tail light) and he offers 100 million dollars to anyone who can get him out of custody, so then an army of opportunistic gangsters descends upon the SWAT team who are supposed to escort him to prison, eventually of course, wholesome all-American good guys prevail over the effete delicate french criminal and his army of minions. Also there's a good jab at vegetarians thrown in when Samuel L Jackson's recruiting his team, and that's a plus.
actiontastic shooter movie January 19, 2009 Jonathon L. Bell Filled with action, twists & turns, and a really hot Michelle Rodriguez. Definitely a guys movie.
WHAT January 11, 2009 Kable (here) An imprisoned drug kingpin offers a huge cash reward to anyone that can break him out of police custody and only the LAPD's Special Weapons and Tactics team can prevent it
