Product Description Sometimes she's too big. Or much too small. Sometimes things are backwards. And there's always too much pepper in the soup! Nothing is quite right since Alice chased a very unusual White Rabbit and stumbled into an adventure that grows curiouser and curiouser. One of the greatest childhood fantasies is captured in Irwin Allen's colorful production adapted from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The stellar cast features dozens of Hollywood's biggest names, including Red Buttons, Sammy Davis,Jr. and Beau Bridges. The legendary Steve Allen wrote the jolly, witty songs. Alice is looking for a way home. And happy to be welcomed into yours.
Amazon.com Alice returns from Wonderland only to discover she's on the wrong side of her living room mirror at the beginning of the second half of Irwin Allen's 1985 production, with teleplay by Paul Zindel and songs by Steve Allen (the three-hour film was broken into two parts for video, the first title being Alice in Wonderland). Before you can say "curiouser and curiouser" the jabberwocky is after her. It chases Alice back to a strange land where life appears to be one giant game of chess with pieces portrayed by the likes of Carol Channing and Harvey Korman. The 7-year-old longs to be home, but that doesn't stop her from enjoying some song and dance with Tweedledum and Tweedledee (Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme), watching a bout between the lion (Ernest Borgnine) and the unicorn (Beau Bridges), or being rescued by the White Knight (Lloyd Bridges). Despite the oddly low-tech visual effects from Star Wars's John Dykstra--the jabberwocky is so clearly a guy in a dragon suit--this thrillingly kitschy movie ably entertains. Where else will you see Merv Griffin as a train conductor, Sally Struthers and Donna Mills catfighting with Vegas-worthy flower headdresses, and Jonathan Winters as a crabby Humpty Dumpty before the fall? Adults who fondly remember the '70s and '80s and children 4 and older should enjoy this version of the fabled tale. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Memorable November 13, 2009 Me! This movie is a memory that I will one day want to pass down to my children. I don't feel like anyone has the right to leave a review for this movie unless they watched it as a child. Having this movie inbedded in your thoughts for all these years is what makes this movie great. If you can still remember the words to the songs and the quotes from the characters still today from a movie you watched in 1985, then who can say this movie in anything but great! Of course it is low budget from the 80's but they don't make movies like this anymore. Maybe the low budget is what challenged them to take it to the next level of imagination. My 3 year old niece watched this dvd so much that she scratched it by taking it out of the case so much to tell us she wanted to watch it. Being said, I just ordered another one for her.
Childhood Favorite October 22, 2009 L. Fike (Baltimore Md) Ever since I was little I have watched this movie it is definetly one of my favorites. And always enjoyable to watch anytime.
My Favorite version of this movie October 5, 2009 Abby Lundstrom This movie is fabulous with all of the stars that are in it and the great backdrops it is a fabulous version. The only thing is the Jaberwoky might scare little kids just an FYI

Alice in Wonderland September 26, 2009 Helen Toner (Blue Mountains Australia) This is the 1985 TV version of Alice in Wonderland and I highly recomend it. It was one of my childrens favorites when they were growing up and now my 20 year old daughter is thrilled that we have a copy. There is nothing 'Walt disney about this version of Alice. All the characteres are definately mad and not in the least bit nice. It also includes Alice throught the looking Glass. Fabulous!
