Super Mario Bros. February 25, 2010 Arnita D. Brown (USA) A story about two hard working Italian plumber brothers named Mario Mario and Luigi Mario, who befriends a young paleontologist named Daisy. She uncovers a massive find of mysterious new dinosaur bones. While exploring the tunnels where dinosaur fossils lay, saboteurs hired by the Mario Bros. rival businessman, Anthony Scapelli, to break some underground pipes. Meanwhile, in a hidden world called Dino-world, King Koopa's land is running out of water and going through problems so he sends Spike and Iggy to kidnap Daisy! Now the Super Mario Bros. find themselves the only hope to save the Earth from invasion then challenge a diabolical lizard king and they must battle giant reptilian goombas, outwit misfit thugs and undermine sinister scheme by taking over the world. A classic game adapted to a fantasy reality that parallels, is simply brilliant. The rendition of koopa-manhattan is great. The city adds life to this movie, it makes it real in it's own fantastic way. If you love the games and have an open minded imagination, this is a must watch movie.

I bought this for a friend. She really liked it. I like her. Everything's just fine.
The definition of lame January 28, 2010 Jason R. Conger (Tampa, FL USA) This movie is so lame and boring that words can't even describe. The only thing decent (I said decent, not good) about the movie is Dennis Hopper as Koopa (which should have been Bowser since that was the name of the main villain in the video game). But guess what? He is hardly in the movie all that much. The only time I laughed during the movie is when Koopa sticks his tongue out. Other than that, the movie is boring and lame as hell. I like Bob Hoskins as an actor, but I am afraid he desperately needed the money to consider being in a terrible movie such as this one. I'm not a John Leguizamo fan. I won't say anything bad about the guy, he's just not my cup of tea. He has done some respectable work, but he doesn't help this movie very much due to the poorly written script. When a movie is bad, it is usually, with some exceptions, not the actors' fault. It has to do with writing and directing and here the writing and directing are BAD. This movie should have never been made. When I was a teen, I was looking forward to this, being a fan of Super Mario Bros. 3 and all, but I, like many other teens, became sadly disappointed. I am not against video games turned into movies. Mortal Kombat wasn't bad and I actually think that Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, or Castlevania could make a good video game movie adaptation if it's done well. Just because a video game is popular doesn't mean that it should be conceived as a movie, but try telling that to hotshot producers who want to cash in on the video game craze and want to ride off into the sunset knowing that the poor movie-watching public was stooped out of their time and money. Why don't people like this movie? December 13, 2009 I really like this movie! A lot of people don't like it, but I am not sure why. Many of the reasons are:
Where's Bowser?
Uh, did you NOT watch the movie? His name was changed to Koopa, which was used in the anime.
The special effects are bad!
This was made in 1993. They didn't have all the CG we do now.
But the big one was: Why don't they have Princess Peach?
I was a little suprised too, but, as in the movie, Mario (Bob Hopskin) already had a girlfriend, so they had to use Daisy. I think a lot of people wouldn't have complained if they called her "Peach" instead of "Danllia" or however you spell it. Or, maybe they could've used both of the princesses.
I really like the movie, and spent a lot of time yelling, "Oh no!" then "Oh, never mind." It's funny, and I thought I was going to die of laughter. There's a lot of action too, so if you're an action fan, this is for you. My friend and I laugh about this movie at school A LOT. We usally do this:
"Hey remeber the part where Mario and Luigi were at the police station, and the guy is like 'Your name?' 'Mario.' 'Last name?' 'Mario.'"
"Oh, yeah, and then he asks Luigi 'Your name?' 'Luigi' 'Luigi Luigi?' 'No, Luigi Mario.'"
"And then, 'Ok, how many Marios are we talking about here?'"
"'Three Mario Mario, and Luigi Mario.'"
But our favorite line is: "Goombas are strong, lethal... and STUPID!"
Yeah, I really enjoyed this movie. My thought after th movie was over? "Funny, and satisfing." I hope that you will enjoy this movie a lot. I really like this movie, and I liked the movie debut of the Mario Brothers!
Not for everyone, but deserves its status as a cult favorite October 22, 2009 AstroChan (San Francisco, CA) I loved this movie in 1993, and I still do. Critics said it was "too dark," but if you want something just like the game, watch the Saturday morning cartoon. The harsh, grimy netherworld of the Koopas is unexpectedly weird and creative, and with some of the last animatronic puppets before special effects went CG, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is a small masterpiece.
