Great Bruce Campbell Fun September 22, 2009 V. Krzyzaniak (FEDERAL WAY, WA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The acting is terrible. The effects are cheap. The plot is weak. The dialog is goofy. But so what! Its great fun to watch.
Bruce Campbell battles nine foot tall bugs and kills them all. Great campy fun. I enjoyed it all.
Great flick May 13, 2009 eMilk (Charlotte, NC) Not for serious movie critics. Just a really fun movie to laugh at and laugh with. I'm a big fan of Campbell, and this movie doesn't disappoint. The acting is so lame (the overacting makes it funny!). The wigs are fake to the point where you wonder if they actually WANTED you to know they're wearing wigs. The story is AMAZINGLY predictable. But add in Campbell and some wood hungry aliens, and it's a great film to waste a night on!
If your not sold yet, I must mention there are a few scenes where the aliens eat dude's heads off clean from their body...... yeah...
Schlocky, but worth a look... April 29, 2009 J. L. Horton (Middle of Nowhere, USA) I've been a Bruce Campbell fan for a loooong time, so adding this movie to my collection was a natural. Bruce, as is typical, just has a unique presence and is always worth watching. The rest of the film...well, that's another story....
Plot? Worse than bad. Had potential, but just never delivered because something this schlocky should be played as camp. How in the world could anyone think that this was a "serious" sci-fi plotline? Apparently at least one director.....
Dialogue? Took what was already bad and made it worse. Same reason as above.
Production? Momentually bad costuming and disastrous special effects. The scenery was beautiful and I guess it is hard to screw up or dress up a woodpile.
Acting? Unlike some other reviewers, I will tell you that I was disappointed in all of the acting, even Bruce Campbell's. However, having seen most of the cast in better productions, this is clearly not a case of talentless bums reading a script. The director, on the other hand, carries all of the blame and should seriously consider a career in accounting or dry cleaning or something else that requires no sense of humor or timing. No feel whatsoever for what could have been a delightful sendup.
Conclusion? Watch the film if you are a die-hard B-movie fan or a Campbell fan or both. Don't expect much. Perhaps turning this film into a party game would work.......
Bruce does it again April 20, 2009 Harvey Wren Jr. (New Florence, MO USA) For the budget they had to work with, and the fact that they had to dub in most of the actors voices due to the fact that they filmed this movie in another country, this was a very entertaining enslaved human race by insect alien's film.
The key factor was Bruce Campbell pulling off his usual stellar performance, he can pull any movie out of the crapper with his funny sarcasm and dry humor, the best part of this film is listening to the commentary while watching the movie the second time around, very funny and insightful.
If you're a Bruce fan, I say buy this movie, but if you're not a fan, don't bother since it's not able to stand on its own without Bruce's support.
To the Bruce March 17, 2009 Mark Snider, Jr. (Lynchburg, VA) Bruce Campbell.. That's all i need to say about this movie. Anyone who doesn't know who Bruce Campbell is, has been living under a rock. This is one of the greatest actors of our generation. Not selling out completely and loving every minute of his career.
This movie is a must see for any Bruce Campbell fans.
It's enjoyable and i'm glad to have it in my collection.
