| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description THE WIDOW OF MURDERED CIVIL RIGHTS LEADER MEDGER EVERS AND A DISTRICT ATTORNEY STRUGGLE TO FINALLY BRING THE MURDERER TO JUSTICE.
Amazon.com Rob Reiner, who used to be more interested in personal style as a filmmaker, continues to duck behind bland movies about important ideas with this based-on-fact film about the embattled white prosecutor (Alec Baldwin) who brought racist killer Byron De La Beckwith (James Woods) to justice after 30 years of failed attempts. Charged with the murder of civil rights leader Medgar Evers, Beckwith slimes up the film pretty well via Woods's somewhat showy performance, while Baldwin generously assumes the usual clichés surrounding reluctant heroes. Whoopi Goldberg is at her most stately as Evers's widow. The whole self-important production is dogged by the obvious thought that it might have played better (and to far more people than it did in theaters) on television. --Tom Keogh

CIVAL RIGHTS February 18, 2010 Fred Kimpel SAD BUT TO THE POINT OF ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES EVER DONE.JUST HAD TO HAVE THIS ONE ON DVD
Great !!!! February 7, 2010 S. Jackson (Brooklyn, NY) I feel Medgar Evers don't get the attention that many other african-american leaders of his time get. Medgar was a great man and an amazing leader.
Ghosts of Mississippi January 23, 2010 Arnita D. Brown (USA) Medgar Evers is a black civil rights activist in Mississipi, who was killed by a gunman. It is later suspected that Byron De La Beckwith, a racist is the killer and he would be tried a couple of times and both trials ended in hung juries. For more than 20 years, Evers widow Myrlie has been trying to bring De La Beckwith to justice and she believes that she has what it takes to bring him to trial again. However, most of the evidence in the old trial have disappeared but Bobby De Laughter an assistant D.A. decides to do what he can to help her despite being warned that it might hurt his political aspirations and the strain it's causing on his marriage. This movie is thought-provoking, brilliant and compelling. Combined with the excellent ensemble performances, brilliant script and messages this movie has "Ghosts Of Mississippi" is one movie you can't miss.

True story from the 1960's. Start's in Mississippi goes to Oregon and then to Tennessee to get the killer and back to where it all started 25 years later. Thank You Mr DeLaughter you are a true HERO. Rest in Peace Medgar.

I loved the way the director told the story murder of civil rights leader Medgar Evers. I felt that Alec Baldwin, Whoopi Goldberg, and James Woods portrayal of their characters were very real and did justice to their characters.
I am glad I purchased this DVD even though I have seen the film a few times before.
