Product Description Movie DVD
Amazon.com A deft balance between special effects, comedy, and family dynamics made this 1989 film a hit for Disney and spawned both a string of video sequels and a subsequent TV series. Moranis is endearing as the bumbling inventor/father of the Szalinski family. He inadvertently shrinks his own children then throws them out with the trash. They, along with the neighbor kids, must journey back across their own backyard, now an enormous, dangerous distance, to get back to the right height. Much is done with the perils of the lawn, from a wild deluge from the sprinklers to a nasty encounter with the lawnmower and numerous encounters with gigantic insects. A generally kid-friendly, inventive (no pun intended), and entertaining outing. --Keith Simanton

great November 19, 2009 B. W. Hines (seattle, wa.) THIS MOVIE IS A CLASSIC! Found it and it was a very low price! Only took a few days and it was in my dvd player!
The good old days of good family movie night fun/ October 23, 2009 D. Santos (Milwaukee, WI, USA) These are the kind of movies kids and young teens need to watch growing up these days. I was raised watching movies like this and eventhough I'm 25 i still enjoy them. Now that i have a niece and nephew, I hope to watch these movies with them one day.
It was a fun family movie. April 18, 2009 Amber (Georgia) Nothing really earth-shaking; just a cute science fiction story with some creative situations and easy humor. Characters interacted in a believable manner with good acting. One of Disney's better live-action movies.
fun family movie March 28, 2009 Amy E. Barker (Virginia) This was one of my favorite Disney movies from my childhood. I saw it again recently on the Hallmark Channel (they show old Disney movies often).
The movie is about a wacky inventor who has invented a machine to shrink stuff. His experiments are unsuccessful until one weekend the machine accidentally shrinks his kids and his neighbor's kids.
The kids are then accidentally thrown out with the trash and have to make their way through the dangers of the backyard. This results in a fun adventure movie that the entire family will enjoy.
Fun movie, bad DVD December 22, 2008 Gregory Glockner (Bellevue, WA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Although it's a bit dated, Honey I Shrunk the Kids is still a fun family movie.
However, I'm disappointed with the DVD edition. First, the video is "fullscreen" 4:3. There is no widescreen option for newer 16:9 displays. Second, the video quality is poor - you can see many video artifacts such as noise on the display. It looks like you're watching a VHS videotape.
Your kids probably won't care about the picture quality, but it might bug the parents if you're watching along.
