15 amps out to100 feet - plus a great price October 13, 2009 Kay Hayes (San Jose, CA USA) This is a heavy cord and is rated for outside. I am using it to connect my RV to my house current. It performs perfectly. I like the feature that lights up a little LED at the female end to let you know you have power to the plug. The rating is 15 A, 125 V, and 1875 W. For 12 guage, that is about as good as it gets. It is water resistent as an outdoor cord must be. An added plus, Amazon is a lot less expensive than the local big box store for the exact same cord. Can't go wrong.
Heavy Duty Extension Cord August 29, 2009 BigBear (Ohio) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A Heavy Duty Extension cord as an important tool to be had in most workshops and home/yard storage areas. If you have heavy duty electical devices you absolutly need heavy duty extension cords. Most people do not realize that high current useage Electric Devices have limitations when used at lengthy distances from the power source. Consequently, larger gage wire is required due to the current draw. If an heavy duty extension cord is not used circuit breakers will most likely be tripped when the device is working hardest. This product provides the features required of an Heavy Duty Extension Cord; Heavy gage wire (12ga), Heavy Jacket material. The high visibility Yellow color of the jacket material provides an easy reminder of where the cord is and that it is in use. As with most extension cords there is no provision for maintaining the electrical connection when pulling on the cord or the device connected to it. However, I consider the price of this product makes it an excellent value!
Works great, doesn't heat up July 7, 2009 Morley Dotes (Flushing, New York USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
First, I would like to say that I have used this for over a year and am VERY pleased with it, and here's why:
1) The color stands out. I had a green cord from a different brand that I used with my hedge trimmer. Boy is my hedge trimmer sharp, it cut right through the extension cord. Imagine all the dangers that go along with that!
2) Heavy duty. Some lighter gauge cords will got VERY hot, so be careful. In this instance, you get what you pay for....and if you are using this in a dry area, the last thing you want to do is start a fire.
3) Cost. I have seen these at the local Home Depot/Lowes for at least 25% more!
4) I have used this with my snowblower, edge trimmer, power washer, hedge trimmer, shop vac, leaf blower, etc., and have never had a problem. I have not experienced any problem in cold weather, down to 0 degrees. The windchill that day (yes I remember it because it was REALLY old) was below zero. The only thing is not to store this outside. As with anything, if you leave it exposed to the elements it may not last as long. Also, be sure to properly store it, and try not to kink it anywhere.
The only downside is that it is heavy. No reason for a star reduction because all of them at this size are heavy (and they get heavier!).
If you are looking to light some low voltage lights, etc., don't waste your money. If you are using saws, lawnmowers, etc., this is what you should be using.
Extension Cord June 26, 2009 Richard Townsend (Omaha, NE USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This product was not identified as to Wattage capacity, only the wire guage which was confusing to this buyer. The cord was much too heavy duty for my needs and was therefore returned. Extension cords should also be labeled by wattage.
Well made and durable June 16, 2009 Sebastian Montgomery (TX) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I needed a heavy duty extension cord to power my electric lawn mower. This one fit the bill perfectly. The bright yellow is very visible in the lawn. The LED light in the female plug lets you know there's power. All around a well-made extension cord.
