Great Chime November 1, 2009 Brendan Buschi (Dover, DE USA) I got this because I could not always hear the doorbell from either the basement or when I was upstairs. Now I can hear it from anywhere in the house.
This was super easy to install. It took me more time to read the instructions than it did to actually install it - about a minute.
Installed easily, works great, exactly what I needed October 24, 2009 Objectivist (Baltimore, MD USA) After a lot of research and reading the other reviews of this product, I bought this doorbell extender through Amazon and it arrived quickly. I have a new house with a finished third level, and we couldn't hear the standard doorbell from all the way up there.
The directions were very good. I had to hook up three terminals of the existing doorbell to three wires of the transmitter that comes with the kit, which took about two minutes with a screwdriver. Both the terminals and the wires were clearly marked so there was no chance of error. I spent a few minutes more to dress up the installation by routing the wires and using the double-sided tape to affix the transmitter to the doorbell cover.
I plugged the receiver into an empty outlet on the third floor, and when I tested it out, it worked perfectly. I was worried about the distance from the transmitter to the receiver, but there's no problem at all.
I really like that there are no batteries to change or anything to maintain. I also like that it works immediately upon pressing the doorbell -- there's no need to hold it down or do anything different.
Exactly what I needed October 14, 2009 Michael Sandler (Newark, DE) I had a wired doorbell that I couldn't hear in the computer room.
This product was installed in less than 10 minutes and worked exactly as advertised - front door rings and so does the alarm in the computer room.
THE ANSWER September 12, 2009 S. MARKS (WASHINGTON D.C.) My home is extremely large and I could not hear the doorbbell from the upstairs, I had purchased A Thomas & Betts/Carlon dor bell extender for my previous home and was very satisfied. This one is no different. The RC3200 has EXTREMELY long range with EXCELLENT results. If you read the reviews on less expensive units you'll see why this is the one to buy!Thomas & Betts/Carlon Deluxe Plug-In Extend-A-Chime RC3200
Excellent product....works as advertised February 26, 2009 L. Huber (Denver, CO USA) After researching literally dozens of these doorbell extenders, I finally settled on this one. The key selling point for this particular unit was that the transmitter was hard-wired to the existing doorbell; this completely eliminates the over/under sensitivity of the mic on similar (completely wireless) products.
The only issue that I had was getting the wires run in such a manner that they did not interfere with the chime plates in the doorbell. But, even this only added a minute or two to the install.
I put the receiver in my home office which is in the basement, and it works like a charm. Now I am contemplating adding a second receiver, and placing that one out in the garage.
