Amazon.com Product Description The Gen/Tran PowerStay manual transfer switch is a highly versatile switch designed for 10 circuits, 30 amps, and generators up to 7,500 watts. Plus, as your family or business needs change, this product can expand up to 16 circuits, increasing its range of use. The cabinet can be conveniently flush or surface mounted indoors, and the design accommodates either hardwiring to a generator or installing via a plug-in cord. The standard branch circuit breakers make for easy replacement and expansion, allowing you to reconfigure the product to suit your needs. Housed in a NEMA 3R-rated aluminum cabinet, this transfer switch features a L14-30 male power inlet. Included in the design are three 15 Amp 1-pole breakers, three 20 Amp 1-pole breakers, one 2-pole 20 Amp breaker and one 2-pole 30 Amp breaker for your water heater; the transfer switch accepts Arc Fault and GFCI breakers. To use this transfer switch, a 60 Amp main breaker must be installed in the existing load center. This product is listed to UL standard 1008.

Works fine October 18, 2008 Doctor.Generosity (Western MA United States) I was a little surprised when my electrician suggested that I go online to buy the transfer switch to go with the new emergency generator he was installing. Amazon for electrical gear? But there it was, about $100 less than through a local supply house. It's all hooked up and works fine.
GenTran generator panel June 24, 2008 Johnny B. Handy Wonderful product. Can be used flush mount or surface mount. Accepts standard easy to find breakers. I highly recommend this product.

Well designed and suitable for most household applications with 15, 20 and 30 amp breakers. All-inclusive kit. Use a licensed electrician for hookup.
Great product, the right way to do it January 2, 2005 AK (KY United States) 57 out of 58 found this review helpful
I installed this Manual Transfer Switch to power my homes critical circuits the correct way without risk of electrocuting the power company repair man. I like the way this unit is designed, it comes prewired with with the plenty of instructions that make sense if you take a little time to think them through. If you can't figure the instructions out, call a pro. Anyway, the switch has two load meters that are very helpful once you are powering your house through the transfer switch panel from your generator. The meters tell you how close you are to your generators limits. I found the installation straightforward and logical. I'm happy with the purchase. This can be a DIY if you understand what is going on in the circuit breaker panel, load/wire gauge code requirements, etc..
