If you need a doorbell but are a little nervous about doing your own wiring, then wireless is the way to go. With Heath Zenith's wireless doorbell systems, all you need to do is mount the doorbell and the chime-no electrical installation is needed.With the SL-6164, you get the added benefit of being able to choose from 64 tunes-if you'd like your doorbell to play Deck the Halls, Hava Nagila, The Magnificent Seven, or even bird sounds, all of these tunes (and 60 more) are selectable using a slide switch and jumper inside the chime. You can also select from 128 code settings (which allow the doorbell to communicate with the chime) to make sure your neighbor's wireless systems don't set of your chime. Purchased this item to place on my Mother's breezeway door so that seasonal and holiday greetings could be programmed into it. SHE LOVES IT and is thrilled when a holiday approaches and the chime can be set to an appropriate song for that particular holiday. Can't recommend this product highly enough.
 Changing songs is a pain! November 8, 2009

The unit works fine but it is very frustrating to lose the TINY (and I mean TINY!) piece in order to change a tune. Luckily I'm a mom and I had tweezers handy - you need these to simply change songs. Of course this piece (did I say how TINY it was!?) fell inside the unit's circuit board and I had to unscrew the tiny screws and take off the back plate to find it. After some shaking, it became visable and I fished it out but there are all kinds of tiny spots where it could be wedged. It does have a nice selection of tunes but I dread going through this again, so I probably never will. There has got to be an easier design out there for the consumer.

Dear Folks,
I too, have been victimized by wireless door chimes that claim to.... but fail.
Our previous tries included the outside door button being so flimsy that the battery would lose contact and needed to be poked to work; also dampness affected its ability to make contact.
When it did chime, my dog didn't even know it.
Finally!!! This works. Solid construction, water sealed outdoor button, loud chimes, and the dog wakes up.
It offers a large selection of tunes, but we don't use that; just wanted one that works EVERY TIME someone comes to the door; not sometimes.
Good product.

This is the second one of these door chimes I have purchased. They serve my purpose in every respect. I highly recommend this door bell-chime to anyone interested in various door bell themes.
