Amazon.com Product Description If you need a doorbell but are a little nervous about doing your own wiring, then wireless is the way to go. With Heath Zenith's wireless doorbell systems, all you need to do is mount the doorbell and the chime-no electrical installation is needed. The SL-6182 features an attractive solid oak cover with satin-finish brass tubes. It has a generous 150-foot range, and different chime tones let you know which door you need to head to. You can also select from 128 code settings (which allow the doorbell to communicate with the chime) to make sure your neighbor's wireless systems don't set of your chime. The battery for the push button is included, along with all the mounting hardware you'll need. Note that you will have to supply three D batteries for the chime.--Josh Dettweiler What's in the Box Wireless chime, wireless push button with battery, hardware pack

Quite good December 13, 2007 R. Harke (Pittsburgh, PA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Given that the doorbell wiring in my house has pretty much fallen apart from age, and I didn't relish the thought of tearing up the walls to fix it, I invested in a wireless doorbell some time back. This is actually the second wireless doorbell I've had. The previous doorbell that I had (GE SmartHome Wireless Door Chime (GE1602SB041W)) has a terrible button that tends to only work 50% of the time. This one has a much better button. The chime unit is quite attractive. It could stand to be a bit louder, but I've heard worse. The default Westminster chime tries pretty hard to sound like a real chime (I think it is a recording, not synthesized), but ends up sounding pretty artificial. It doesn't really bother me, though. The main complaint I have is that the frequency/security code is set with jumpers, and the jumpers for the chime are recessed so far as to make it nearly impossible to manipulate them. (I couldn't even get my tweezers in!) However you can remove the panel that they are recessed behind fairly easily, and then it becomes easy to manipulate them. Kind of annoying, but really you only have to do it once. Also, the first security code jumper combination that I picked (randomly) didn't seem to work. I thought I'd broken it, but I picked a different security code and it started working fine. So it is possible that some of the '127' security codes that are advertised as possible, are actually duds. Or, this may have been a freak occurrence. Something to keep in mind though.
