If you need a doorbell but are a little nervous about doing your own wiring, then wireless is the way to go. With Heath Zenith's wireless doorbell systems, all you need to do is mount the doorbell and the chime-no electrical installation is needed.With the SL-6142-C, you get two push buttons so you can put one on the front and back doors. The chime is programmed with three different tunes: one- and two- note chimes and an eight-note Westminster chime. You can select from 128 code settings (which allow the doorbell to communicate with the chime) to make sure your neighbor's wireless systems don't set of your chime. The batteries for the push buttons are included, along with all the mounting hardware you'll need.  Exactly what I needed November 16, 2008

After reviewing others comments for similar products I decided to take a chance that this product would do the job for me. It does exactly that as my house is all on one floor and I now know when someone comes to either door of my house. My only concern now is how long the batteries will last but they can always be purchased when that time comes.

Ordered as a replacement for an existing battery operated door bell, this is better because of the household current providing power and no battery to replace on the chime unit.

This product is good.
We have a home business, and leave the shop sometimes unattended.
The distance we use, between the buttons and the chime is about 30 - 40 foot. And it works perfect.

I like the idea of a doorbell to plug into an outlet. This particular one does not chime loud enough. And to change the "song" of the chimes, one has to do all three items.

Thanks to the reviewer that mentioned that the chime unit is NOT battery powered. I didn't want battery power in the chime. However the push buttons are battery powered and supposedly work 75 feet from the chimes. I have not tested this, but I have the pushbuttons on the first floor and the chimes are upstairs and they work quite well. The push buttons are not round, as in the picture, but rectangular. One is white, the other is off-white.
The volume is strong and we can hear the chimes throughout the house.
I got exactly what I wanted.
