Nice power management for lots of AC cables October 1, 2008 Phast Phil (NYC) You know the line: you could never have enough money or be young enough! Well with computer desks - You can never have enough AC Outlets! I thought for sure this one would accommodate all my AC devices, but it was a tough squeeze to get them all inside this device. I must admit (not being a big fan of Belkin products) that this made for a nice management device for AC cables, wall warts etc. However, I still had problems with certain wall warts - specifically - the AC charger from Moto for a Razor was unhappy in any slot, and large bulky AC cable had a hard time doing the 90 out the side. Also, once I crammed everything I had into the outlets and tried closing the cover - it just wouldn't stay closed - an oversight on the part of the designer - flimsy catches assumed less wires and cramming - so the cover kept popping open - a piece of scotch tape probably would of been in order, but I hate workarounds when a a little extra plastic would of made this a 5 star product instead of 4. The 1 in 2 out phone connector was a nice touch however.
Limited effectiveness in design August 22, 2008 yogagirl (chicago) I am using this for my home theatre equipment, which also includes about 4 items that require AC adapters of various sizes. The design of the closing cover really is not big enough to accommodate the AC adapters, and all the various components have widely differing lengths of cord. Those conditions render this unit much less effective in cord management than the images suggest. While the picture looks nice and neat, depending on your setup and the lengths of your cords, it may not work out. In addition, the stiffness of cable cords pulls the unit in odd directions. The cover doesn't shut all the way. It is not an effective deterrent to curious children. If I were to buy something again I would use a smaller powerstrip with a cable ground and a power squid instead. I give up on trying to make it all look neat, it is virtually impossible with all the variations in cord length, stiffness, and adapters.
So much cleaner looking! August 7, 2008 Shopper (CA) This is the third one of these surge protectors I have purchased, the first two for computer equipment and this one for tv and gaming systems. They really minimize the messy look if your power strip is visible. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 for the following reason. Most of the new computer and media plugs have longer heads on them and are a tight fit in the section of this box designed for regular plugs, causing the cords to bend significantly. (I used the power block section for some of the longest ones to alleviate this problem.) I have had no problems with the hinges on any of the three boxes, however, I have not attempted to stuff much cord length in them either. The cleaner look and high joule protection makes them worth the price for me.
Great hidden gem... July 17, 2008 DigitalCzech (San Francisco, CA USA) This rocks... in fact... every power strip should be designed like this. I hides all the plugs... except my apple powerbook plug... but that one fits really well on the outside plug they supplied. I think there should be a range of sizes for these things. A larger one might be a nice addition to hide all those huge plugs and power transformers.
Great Surge Protector if you have kids... June 4, 2008 K. Hanlon (Queens, NY) I bought this surge protector for two reasons, the first being the longer than standard cord, second, I have a one year old that is now mobile and very curious. It is also a nice gray color, not black or yellow like most surge protectors with longer cords. I have had no problems with the product, it serves it's purpose.
