Ten outlets work in sync to power and protect your electrical devices. View larger. | Protection and Power-Efficiency Save You Money and Worry You don't want your power strip to eat up power, but you also want assurance that your equipment is safe from harsh power surges. Ideal for coaxial and phone lines as well as computer systems and home entertainment centers, the Smart Strip LCG5 employs a proprietary auto-switching technology that automatically shuts down devices that are not in use, saving you money and reducing your overall energy usage. The Smart Strip has 10 clearly marked outlets that you plug your computer or home entertainment center peripherals into. When you power down computer or stereo, the Smart Strip automatically shuts down the power to your computer's and entertainment's center peripherals. This unique feature not only saves you money and helps the environment, it also makes shutting down your systems fast and easy. The remaining four outlets include three constantly hot outlets, marked in red, and the master outlet that controls the six switched outlets, marked in blue. Unlike most power strips, the Smart Strip itself uses very little energy. It uses one watt of power when fully engaged and less than 1/4 of a watt when the automatically switched outlets are off. Advanced Surge Protection with Superior EMI/RFI Filter Power strips without EMI/RFI (Electromagnetic Interference/Radio Frequency Interference) run the risk of allowing waves from one electronic device to cause malfunctions or interference in another. The Smart Strip LCG5 protects you from this risk with its advanced EMI/RFI filter, backed up by a 15 AMP circuit breaker and two frequency-sensitive RC filters that eliminate false switching. Plus, a passive current sensor ensures an ultra-safe, ultra-clean switching off and on of your peripherals, giving you added peace of mind that your valuable electronics will remain safe. The possible hazards of power surges are further prevented with 2875-joule surge protection and 84,000 AMP protection, both of which employ a three-way design to give you the ultimate protection for your valuable equipment. Designed for Convenience and Ease of Use The Smart Strip LCG5's widely spaced, clearly marked outlets give you the space and ease to connect all necessary equipment. The four-way wall mountable design, 45-degree space-saver plug, and heavy-duty six-foot power cord offer the versatility to place the power strip wherever it is most convenient, so it never gets in the way of your footpath or your home décor. A lighted power switch keeps the strip visible, so you're never left fumbling in the dark. The Smart Strip LCG5 is backed by a full two-year warranty for defects and includes a lifetime $30,000 connected equipment warranty. Smart Strip Review November 23, 2009 Dianne Axelrod This is a great product. It does what it says by shutting down the power when the item is not in use for my printer, computer, and TV.
Power Strip September 17, 2009 Strong4ever 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
The manual is not clear as to how to use this strip. All items plugged into this strip are ran by the main item plugged into the blue plug (control plug). Another words, if you have your TV plugged into the control plug, and then you plug in a stereo system, VCR, converter box, lamps, etc. into the other outlets, when you turn the TV on, EVERYTHING comes on. You cannot turn just the lamp on. If you don't have something plugged into the control plug, nothing will come on at all.
Works great September 12, 2009 A. Siciliano (Syosset, NY USA) I love this auto-sensing power strip. Not only does it offer surge protection, but it works as advertised, turning off all devices automatically after I turn off my tv. Great for entertainment components that draw power even when turned off, like amps and subwoofers and dvd players, etc. Now all my units power down completely when I turn off my tv to save electricity and go into standby mode only when I turn on my tv so that they can also be used if desired.
surge suppression that worked September 12, 2009 blekenbleu 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
With desktop PC plugged into control outlet, Windows Turn Off shuts off
monitors and other peripherals plugged into controlled outlets.
Power cord is substantial enough for a laser printer.
Perhaps 15 years ago, Radio Shack also sold well-built master/slave
power strips, but they are far too easily confused by modern products
with substantial peak current drains when nominally powered off.
Many of these products draw relatively high peak currents with very
short duty cycles. For example, a nominally-off appliance averaging 6 watts
may draw 60 Watts for 1/10 of each cycle of 60Hz power.
All external connections to a system should be surge-protected
at the same ground point; surge suppression on power without phone
and cable asks for trouble.
Our LGC5 phone surge suppressor sacrificed itself during a recent
storm; Bits Support is shipping a replacement module free,
even though our strip is well beyond the 2-year warranty.
Really works for me September 12, 2009 Jim M. Wurster I really like this device in helping eliminate phantom loads. When you plug in your controlling device and all other peripheral devices, they all turn off when you turn off your controlling device. I have it hooked up to my home theater system. When I turn off the TV, all my other devices turn off too.
