Amazon.com The Duracell Inverter 1000 is a remarkably compact and reliable power solution for professional travelers, contractors, and others who need portable AC power on demand. It employs advanced electronics to convert virtually all available standard 12-volt DC battery power into 120-volt household AC electricity. From power tools, to entertainment, to computer hardware--the Duracell Inverter 1000 gives you the flexibility to take all of your power-hungry equipment on the road with you. Duracell Inverter 1000 powers your tools with ease. | Packed with Features The Duracell Inverter 1000 is packed with features that will keep you up and running while you are out-and-about. It uses highly efficient internal electronics to convert up to 90% of available 12-volt DC power to standard 120-volt household current. Two grounded AC outlets provide a total of 1000 watts of continuous output power and a peak output power of 2000 watts. High peak-power gives you the surge capacity to activate products that require more starting power. It is easily strong enough to recharge your equipment's batteries and provide power for all of your mobile needs. Its heavy-duty stud connectors ensure a safe, secure power connection to your DC power source. Additionally, the Duracell Inverter 1000 has convenient mounting brackets for greater stability. Perfect for Travelers and Contractors Duracell's Inverter 1000 is ideal for those who are professional travelers or who work out of their vehicles. Small electronics are no problem. If your laptop battery runs low or you need more play time with your MP3 player, portable gaming console, or DVD player, simply connect your devices into the AC outlets and keep going. It can power your equipment directly, or simply recharge the batteries. The Duracell Inverter 1000 can also handle beefier equipment with ease. Household appliances such as compact microwave ovens, bar refrigerators, vacuum cleaners, portable stereos, televisions, gaming consoles, and even full-size computers with monitors are all easily powered by it. Contractors will appreciate that it can run drills, jigsaws, sanders, buffers, and work lights in remote locations. Whether you're in an RV, tractor-trailer, van, or truck, the Duracell Inverter 1000 truly is your portable power solution. Duracell Inverter 1000 Protects Your Equipment The Duracell Inverter 1000 has several features to keep both you and your devices safe. Over-temperature shutdown keeps the unit from overheating under extreme conditions and prevents fires. The overload shutdown ensures that the unit's inverter does not become damaged from being overpowered by the DC source. The low-voltage alarm activates at 11 volts of DC current, and the low-voltage shutdown turns the unit off at 10.5 volts. This keeps the internal circuitry of both the inverter and your electronic devices safe when there is insufficient DC energy to power them.

Good product, but always buy a bigger inverter than you need! September 21, 2008 Tim (New York) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I originally bought this to power a 1000 W immersion heater, but the heater apparently pulls more like 1200 W. This inverter would trip almost immediately upon turning on the immersion heater. I exchanged this for a Cobra 1500 W inverter, and have never had a problem. So, don't get a 1000 W inverter if you have a 1000 W load.
Excellent Inverter, but not for powering UPS August 30, 2008 Lorenzo 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This DC/AC inverter is extremely well built and very quiet, even when the thermal-control fan is running. The terminals on the back are heavy-duty and come with washers and nuts. I was planning to power my computer and satellite modem on my farm by connecting my existing APC UPS to this inverter, but for some reason the fault LED lights up and the inverter shuts down. Another reviewer mentioned this problem already, explaining it was because of the modified sine-wave technology. Refer to the following article to determine whether you need a true-sine wave inverter: http://www.roadtripamerica.com/dashboarding/Power-Inverters.htm Anyway, when you connect an inverter like this to a battery, you are actually replicating a UPS, with two major advantages when living in remote locations: -The first is that you can choose the battery capacity you want, and therefore the amount of time you can run your AC-powered devices in-between charges; -The second is that you have a wide choice of options when it comes to recharging your battery (solar, wind, alternator etc.). There are smaller and bigger versions of this inverter on Amazon (mostly under the Xantrex brand, which manufactures it for Duracell), so it is easy to choose according to one's needs (in my case, 1000W is a huge overkill for the computer gear only, but I may be able to power a large LCD monitor or a TV in the future).
Disapointed July 12, 2008 Robby D. Dockery (Silver Valley, NC) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My family and I, ( all 12 of us ) camped at Badin Lake for a week and this Inverter died after a short time of working great, and it was working great. But after turning it off and on 3 or 4 times, She died and I could not bring her back. Thank God for my Genny, ( Read other review ). I sent the item back for a replacement, and Amazon sent me another at no charge. I haven't taken it out of the box yet so I can't tell you about that one. These inverters don't come with cables to hook it up. Thanks and God Bless, Rob.
Modified Sine Wave!! July 9, 2008 Kirk Batterson (CA USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
So I purchased this inverter so I could run my computer off of solar power. Thinking I could plug my UPS (uninterpretable power supply) into it. You CANT! If you plan on plugging a UPS into this, don't, they require a Pure Sine wave. Other than that this unit works great! I am currently charging my laptop and cell phone from it.
Great Inverter June 29, 2008 JuanitoVerde (Tulsa) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've owned many inverters; some were so-so and some were excellent. This unit features an on-demand fan, which makes it quiet when idle. It replaced an also excellent 2500 watt unit I fried by mistake after several flawless years. This one is doing all I ask, with no problems. I've had it for a month or so and expect no problems at all. I'd certainly buy it again and recommend it for anyone interested in a quality inverter.
