Won't shut off December 11, 2008 Chuck FP Bought this as a night light, expecting a little more. It does have good light and looks sleek. Biggest drawback is that there is no daylight sensor so it turns on whenever it senses motion even in daylight. There is no switch to turn off or on. Otherwise it worked okay for a while then turned on but would not turn off. I had to remove batteries to shut off. It was erratic after that - sometimes it would turn off and sometimes it wouldn't. After the small batteries went dead for the third time I stopped using.
Will Dance for Light... September 30, 2008 W. Burnett (Melbourne, FL USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I installed this over the toilet in my master bathroom for late night visits. The light initially comes on fine but turns off after only about 20 seconds, not long enough. The motion detector has trouble picking up continued motion, you must make very exaggerated movements to get the light to come back on. This can be messy for late night bathroom trips.
PROBLEMS:
-Does not detect "continued" motion well
-Light "on" time is not adjustable
-Turns on even in day light (inefficient)
Not all that I expected.... September 21, 2008 Susanne Morse (Massachusetts) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had this Philips Spot on LED Motion Sensor light on my list of things to pick up after seeing it demonstrated by Lou Manfredini on the Today show. I finally got around to ordering it and I have to say I was little disappointed. While it does do as promised, lights up when sensing motion and provides adequate saftey light~it does this 24/7!! It does not "rest" during daylight hours and there is no switch for on/off to disable it during the day. That would be the number one improvement I would suggest to Philips!!
Not worth the money September 15, 2008 Rolling Man (Austin, Tx) The Philips motion sensing light is a good idea, but after about four weeks the motion sensor begin acting up and then four or five weeks later, the motion sensor stopped working and light stayed on until the batteries ran down. You pay for what you get - don't waste your money on this one.
high end kitchen look and feel September 12, 2008 Laurl (Birmingham, Alabama) This is a great because of it's bright light, perfect for under the counter. And, while the lights do turn off after 15-20 seconds, they do not turn off until 15-20 seconds after it no longer senses movement. So, you can work at a counter a long time with the light on. It gives a very high end look and feel to a kitchen. Best of all, if you have a solar changer for AAA batteries, as I do, you never pay for electricity, only the rechargable batteries. It's an enviromental win-win.
