Problem Fixed...at least for now... November 20, 2009

Had the same kind of problem as some of the older reviews. The plaster fan in the blower had warped and broken off so the water heater stopped working. The controller unit was fine, but the new part was exactly the same as the older part so I replaced the entire inducer. There was some warning of the problem because the fan was making some excessive noise for weeks leading up to completely breaking. Anyway, replacing the unit was pretty straightforward, just removing some screws, disconnecting one wire. Took about an hour. Hot water was back up and running within the hour after that. Other people have said the same problem occurs again, so I guess I'll see how long this lasts.

Good product, but the six pin electrical connection does not fit the older 4 pin models. This unit should be shipped with a 6 pin to 4 pin adaptor. With a need to get it working ASAP, the options were to either hard wire the connection, or as I chose to do, swap the electrical box from the old unit to the new draft inducer. It was a quick fix and worked fine. The new electrical box was set aside for possible future use.
