Product Description The Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter gives wireless connection capabilities to any wired Ethernet-equipped game console. The Game Adapter can be used in several different ways. If you have an existing home wireless network and a cable or DSL Internet connection, the Game Adapter lets your Xbox, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2 or 3, or GameCube attach to the network so you can get into online games without running wires to the game room. Or, use a pair of Game Adapters to form a "cable-less cable" between two game consoles for head-to-head gaming - in the same room, or all the way across the house. There's also a special "Wireless LAN Party" mode to connect several consoles at once. It's completely driver-free, so it works on any platform. Since there are no drivers to load, setup is a snap. Just configure the network settings through your PC's web browser, plug it into your game box, and go. The Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter provides lag-free gaming with incredible communication speeds when connected to a Wireless-N Access Point or Router. It can also connect to Wireless-A, -B, or -G devices.Spend your time gaming, not stringing wires, with the Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter.

I forgot it was there, it just works. November 15, 2009 Jeffrey Simmonds (Nashville, TN USA) I'm using this wireless-N bridge to connect my Direct Tv DVR to my wireless-G home network. I didn't use the included installation cd as the admin panel of the bridge was easy enough to use by itself. One thing to remember is that if you decide to manually configure this device you'll have to manually configure an IP address on your computer to connect to the bridge as the bridge doesn't provide addresses via DHCP. After set-up your devices will be able to get addresses via DHCP from your network (providing there is a device on the network like a router providing addresses) through the bridge just not from the bridge. This bridge although marketed as a gaming adapter is great for connecting any network-able devices without a wireless adapter to a wireless network. From initial set-up about a month ago I haven't had to touch this device. It has worked as advertised and exceeded my expectations. -Jeff
Attention gamers - Serious concerns November 13, 2009 David L. Betancourt (Montana) Simply not recommended for gamers. We own 2 other Linksys wireless devices and are strong believers in their products. Our router (310N) and adapter (WUSB600N) work flawlessly.
The WGA600N gradually deteriorated to 1 bar out of 4 on the XBOX connectivity test. This happened over the course of a mere 5 1/2 months from the date of purchase in late May of 2009. Initially the gaming adapter was around 18ft. from the router without obstructions. Self diagnostic tests typically showed signal strength of 52-65%. We then relocated the adapter to within 10ft. of the access point and the signal was still poor. After 3 extended sessions with tech support the adapter showed no improvement. As of yesterday the adapter completely failed to connect, despite its function lights showing the contrary. Please note all of our other devices are functioning at peak levels. Our remedy is to replace the unit free of charge. Unfortunately, we have to pay the shipping bill to the return center.
Other problems exist with accessing the administration pages. At best, it was hit or miss with the program loading properly. I'm hoping this is a defective unit because I've never had as many issues with any wireless device. Otherwise, this adapter needs to be reengineered.
After countless hours of frustration we have purchased the proprietary XBOX wireless N adapter. Spend a little extra for your wireless gaming and bypass the headache. Plug and plays sounds awfully good at this point. The replacement WGA600N provided to us by Linksys will function as a backup or secondary choice for another gaming console. Might even use it for the Dish Network DVR. Do yourself a favor and buy the XBOX 360 specific adapter. Performance has to be better.
UPDATE:
The XBOX 360 Wireless N Adapter performs beyond expectations. The connectivity test on XBOX LIVE registers at 4 out of 4 bars. We also tested our wireless network map and it read at the 100% signal level. The physical distance between the router and XBOX wireless adapter is about 18 feet with a wall separating the devices. Thus far we are enjoying lag free wireless gaming.
Works great with the xbox 360! November 10, 2009 Frodo Baggins (USA) I purchased Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter because the wi-fi adapter I bought from microsoft kept crapping out on me. Constantly dropping me out of xbox live, and more often then not, not even connecting at all. It became very annoying very fast. Especially, because i paid $100 for something which i now have absolutely no use for.
After doing some research i came across Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter which was cheaper then Microsofts certified gaming adapter and more versatile/faster, why i didn't use this to begin with, i have no idea! It was as simple as plugging it into my xbox 360. It immediately started searching for my wireless signal, once found all i had to do was enter the security password and i was on xbox live! Fast, easy, simple. After owning it for 6 months now(i think???), it has treated me very well. Occasionaly it doesn't pick up a signal, but it's easily remendied by unplugging it from the power source and plugging it back in. Well worth your money, hands down better then the Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter. Great product.
I didn't give it 5 stars because it works most of the time, not ALL of the time, but then again, i'm located 3 floors above my wireless router! I do a lot of gaming, so when i say most of the time, i mean almost 100% of the time. I'm sure any wireless adapter drops it's signal occasionaly, therefore nothing to fret about. Also, i believe you can use it for other things besides gaming consols, therefore, if you no longer need it for gaming consols you can use it for your pc, or tv(cable).
Quick-easy-effecient November 9, 2009 F. Danna (Wisconsin) Just installed a HD DVR from Directv and I needed a wireless adaptor for the downloading of Directv media. After looking on line at many products I found that the Link-Sys Dual Band seemed to have the least amount of negative responces from users. Not being a gamer I was happy to find comments regarding the install with the Directv products. The reviews were all over from extremely difficult to install to no problems. As I have used other Lynksys products with positive results I took a chance on this product.
It arrived the next day as promised in good condition. The units instructions were clear and easy to follow. I provided my own cat 5 cable because of the installation area distances. I pluged the unit into the HD DVR and turned it on. Went to the menu on the DVR screen where it asked me if i wanted to install a network device. Responded yes, went thru the prompts on the screen and got instant network hook up. Total install was about 10 minutes.
I have downloaded dozens of films etc. and have not had a problem with the unit or it's purpose.
I highly recomend this unit for Directv installation.
Works for Directv DVR November 3, 2009 Michael T. Kemp (Augusta Ga.) I ordered this unit so that I could use a service that Directv offers. When you have a DVR from them and subscribe to their service you can use "On Demand". It allows you to download movies, shows, and other media from your computer connected to the internet. This can be done a number of ways. For convenience, I chose to go the wireless route. Thus the reason to buy the Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter. I had read in a few of the other reviews of people having problems getting the unit to work with their DVR from Directv. I found that for me, making a connection from the adapter to my Westell modem/router (supplied by AT&T for their DSL service) could not have been easier. Directv allows you to go into their menu from the DVR and set the adapter up. I was able to complete the process without any problems. The adapter made the connection to the modem/router and I was up and running. All said and done, I am very pleased with the Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter. I does an excellent job at what it was intended to do.
