We hung this bell by the back door so our dog can ring it when she needs outside. It is very sturdy and has a nice ring to it. We love it.

The shop I work at finally has a way to tell us when someone has come in the door and everybody loves the tone of the bell. Even reminds us of Clarence and an angel getting his wings. It arrived quickly, in perfect condition and looks great.

This bell is attractive and classic, with a nice rich - not tinkly - sound. It is also very easy to assemble and install. However, I needed to make two minor modifications to get it to ring reliably on a sometimes gently-opened door. First, the bracket was mounted so that the hang strap bumps the overhanging door frame, increasing the likelihood of jostling the bell and ringing it. Second, and more important, the wire suspending the clapper was replaced with a string, so the clapper can swing freely (the wire is too stiff). These modifications were quick and easy, and I'm happy to recommend this product.

I liked the idea of using a nostalgic shop keepers bell rather than one of those annoying electronic sounding chimes for my office. This is an attractive bell, but the ring is too soft for my needs, you had to really shake the door to get it to ring, and the bell fell off after a couple of days. I ended up buying an ugly battery operated door chime instead that does the job perfectly.

Excellent quality sound and construction. It is perfect for teaching my new puppy to go outside. I mounted it on a piece of oak about 1 ft off of the floor, next to the door. My pup is learning to ring the bell when she wants to go outside. It works great.....
