Announce your visitors in style, to custom music or sounds that you create yourself, or choose from six built-in catergories of songs, sound effects, and even voice phrases. This electronic door chime is designed to replace the normal wired mechanical door bell in your home. It supports a front door button (both lighted and non-lighted) as well as a back door button (optional). It can be setup to play any particular song or sound, or for more variety, it can sequence through any one of six different groups: Classic Chimes, Holiday, Halloween, Old Favorites, Fun Sounds, and Special Occasions. The iChime is exactly what I had been looking for and purchased it immediately. Overall it is a decent and definitely fun product. My main complaint and the reason why I'm only giving it 3 stars, is the sound quality. You will definitely need one or two extra auxiliary speakers as it is not nearly loud enough to hear that someone is ringing the doorbell. Also the speaker is crap so when you turn the volume all the way up it sounds like it's going to blow. Recording in your own music requires a little bit of trial and error. You will need a male to male audio cable, don't even bother attempting to hold the unit up to a speaker and record that way. It also requires 4 AA batteries which seems like overkill. They claim the batteries last forever but mine already died while I was recording in my own doorbells. As long as you are willing to hook up extra speakers, I'm going to say it's still worth a purchase because of the fun factor.

The installation was very easy. Be warned that the unit is not all that loud especially in a larger home with basement. Recording your own music to the unit plays back terrible. I tried to run music directly wired and as a recording unit. Both sound is unacceptable as a doorbell. BUT...it is fun to hear the different pre-recorded sounds. Also a lot of fun to change the sounds for holidays and special occasions. I guess the little kid in me wins out and I would buy it again just because it is fun.

We really enjoyed this doorbell over the holidays. The mp3 upload option is fun. My kids loaded a favorite song from an iPod. I would recommend this product.

My family loves this doorbell. We got it just in time for Halloween--the trick or treaters thought it was fantastic. Can't wait to use the Xmas setting soon! (although a Chanukah option would have been nice!)

I am not very handy so I was a little skeptical of installing a wired doorbell, but I must admit it was as easy as they say - just disconnected two wires from the old ding dong and hooked up my new iChime. It's great. There are some really cheesy sounding products out there (I tried one) but the quality of this one is is excellent.
It comes off the wall easily for setup and recording. The built-in sounds are good by themselves but I got it to record my own. I like to experiment with different sounds based on who I know will be coming over. Everyone who hears it wants one! Right now I have it setup to play my six year son saying "I'll be right there!" Should be fun at Christmas time to have it play the built in Holiday songs like Jingle Bells and Deck the Halls.
