5 out of 5 stars Honeywell Door Bell Button   November 14, 2009
Bill A. Belt (Dallas, Texas)
The door bell button that comes with the unit will work well. We just didn't like the color thus we purchased an extra button for the unit. If you plan to put a door button at the front and back of the house you will need an addition door button.

2 out of 5 stars OK, but beware of a few things:   July 13, 2009

I bought this in conjunction with a handful of window and door contacts to use with my Honeywell base doorbell unit.

1. Other poster is absolutely correct - the instructions are unbelievably BAD. In fact I think they probably do more harm than good.

2. One thing that was not clear before I bought was that you need to buy one of these extenders for EVERY set of door/window contacts you buy! That can add up in price if you want to cover all your doors, not to mention low level windows! Sheesh...doesn't mention this ANYwhere in description. I assumed it wirelessly (like the base unit) controlled any door or window contacts installed. But noooooooooo.

I also think that if you were to use this as just a "push" that it doesn't look anything like a "normal" push so I can understand that people would knock instead, ironically. They should have designed it to look more like the white, dedicated pushes that comes with the base system instead, imo. Those are very obviously doorbell pushses...this looks more like a...retina scanner or something. :)

4 out of 5 stars Worked great, but confusing instructions   June 30, 2009

I bought this along with the chime unit and motion detector. When I opened this piece up, there were a bunch of terminals to connect a wire to, and a set of instructions that made NO sense to me. The instructions had no phone number, and the Honeywell site was no help. But, I just tried programming it in with the same instructions that came with the motion detector and the chime, and everything worked fine. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the panic it caused me with those stupid unnecessary wires.

This works as an 'extender' for the Wireless Door Contacts by connecting a small gauge wire and is not needed for the Wireless Motion Detector.

The wire works as a 'converter' by tapping into an existing hard wired system (with a small gauge wire); Which I completely gutted after playing with this Wireless Door Chime and Push Button system.

I had to write a note on mine, saying, "DOORBELL" as visitors to my house did not know what it was... and were knocking. Which is frustrating when you are excited about a product.
