A disappointment January 20, 2008 anonymous (Washington DC) I was very excited to get this clock, but it just does not live up to its description. The projected time is very hard or impossible to see unless the room is pitch black. It also only projects continuously if you buy a separate power cord to plug it in. In my case, the cord jack connection appears to be weak, so the projection still blinks out. The front display is also hard to read. The black-on-grey color scheme does not provide enough contrast. It can show the time via back-light, but again you have to press a button for this function, and then it is on for a minute. My husband also had a difficult time getting it to detect the time, and we are in the eastern US time zone. Don't bother with this product. It's a waste of money.
hit the nail on the head!! December 27, 2007 Athenaa (Georgia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I totally concur with OR Murray! I would never have thought Oregon Scientific would have had something as cheap as this! It says the AC adapter is included ..it's not....why would I want a projection clock if I can't get it to project all the time? It keeps me from having to sit up in bed...look over the lump who is my dear husband and try to see the clock! It's not rocket science....but getting the clock to the correct time zone is!! Make the clock EASY! I am computer literate and my family considers me the person to do all things like this....but when companies do like this it makes that job harder! The instructions were horrible! I will definitely think again before I will spend the extra money on an OS product.
I Expected More from Oregon Scientific December 11, 2007 Arizona Photographer (Grand Canyon) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was disappointed in this Atomic Projection Clock by Oregon Scientific. I saw a magazine article about this clock and we need to buy a travel alarm so I figured with a name like Oregon Scientific it must be a good item. At $38 you would figure it to be a very nice item but it has some downside. It turns out that it is just another electronic item made in China with VERY POOR instructions. The box says that an AC adapter is included, which it isn't. The instructions are impossible to read due to VERY small print on a single page with 4-6 different languages. This doesn't speak well to the quality I expected from OS. I had the feeling that this was one of those $10 clocks you buy at a deep discount store. The icons in the instruction sheet are NOT the same as on the clock face. Good luck. The biggest selling feature is the projection of the time on the ceiling, but to make it project, you have to hit the snooze button, so what is the sense of projection if you have to reach for the clock anyway? Overall I gave it only 3 stars because I didn't think it was worth the $38. I kept the clock and will use it as a traveling alarm, but I will be VERY careful about any future OS products.
