They reduce cadmium, cryptosporidium, giardia, lead, mercury, asbestos, copper, zinc, and sediment 96 to 99.99 percent; plus lessen chlorine levels and discoloration. PUR’s filters are made with activated carbon to reduce chlorine and sediment, and include an ion-exchange resin that helps eliminate lead and copper. For best results, filters should be changed every 40 gallons. While PUR filters rid water of many chemicals, coloration, and bad flavors, they do not soften water or remove fluoride. These filters couldn't be easier to use. They last me about a month and a half each. I drink a lot of water. They make the water taste much better. I can't say that I know, however, how effective these filters are at removing contaminants/impurities; I've never had the water tested. I use them because my home has some older pipes and I just want to be safe, and have better tasting water.

Although I am not a major water drinker, this water pitcher/filter system makes the water actually taste good. I drink it cold from the refrigerator, and I use it for tea, coffee, and even my Scottish Fold kitty likes it. The PUR products are great!
PUR has solved the compatibility issue for PUR-200 cooler November 12, 2009

As most of the reviewers with incompatible PUR200 Cooler dispenser I was not finding the CRF-950 filters anymore and few trials with the older CRF-950Z lead to similar disappointment. After Calling P&G/PUR on 1 800 787 5463 I got my answer. Any CRF-950Z with LOT# > 8001 works now with PUR 200. It seems that they kept the same design but shortened it a little bit to fit the PUR 200. It still does not have the indicator (which I thought was cool) but the sticker does the job.
I am writing this review so people who search the internet would finally have an answer to their worries and not to dispose off their PUR 200 (which is a great product).

I have the newer water pitcher with the tab on top that let's you know when the change the filter, this filter works just the same however I think the filters made for the pitcher is better somehow? The water taste better these filters seem to taste funny...But I'm going to use them and will use more flavor when I didn't before...

I can't find these anywhere Besides Lowes and they only sell a 2 pack for I think 19.85 or something. So for a 3 pack this is a great bargain.
I use these in the large water dispenser, so I am not aware of the LED issues, I just change mine about every 1.5-2 months. They come with a cling-on reminder so it is easy to remember, plus I find that when the water filters "fast" it is time to swap them out.
I really don't drink water.. I use it for my dog's water, coffee tea etc.. but when I do drink it, it ia just like drinking nothing.. sounds weird but that is just what it should taste like right? pure clean cold water. I am sure Britta makes a nice filter also , but if you need the stage 2 PUR filter, get these in a 3 pack.. it is like getting one free!
