| Customer Reviews: better tools yield better results December 17, 2007 Andrea F (NJ United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you find yourself stepping up as a handyperson, treat yourself to good tools. They are an investment that will pay off when they are still giving you dependable service many years down thew road.
Good tools may cost a bit more, but there is a reason for that; They will operate smother, the materials used in their construction will help them to last longer, and replacement parts, when needed, will be readily accessible.
For Electrical work, the better tools are Klien and GB(see my reviews, please) For plumbing work, it's crescent and Ridgid...
Ridgid makes tubing cutters in a few different styles. This model is great for general purpose cutting of copper pipes from 1/4-1 inch in diameter.
The body of the tool is a nice heavy duty metal, as is the curled adjustment handle and the screw mechanism that opens and closes the jaws of this cutter. The cutting wheel and rollers are metal too, and everything gides smoothly on this tool.
When a cutting wheel needs replacement, there is an e-clip that holds it in place. replacement takes just a few seconds.
I have some craftsman cutters as well as some cheapies
and comparing them to this is like comparing a BMW to a ford. When you hold both tools, the heavier weight of the Ridgid is a testament to the better materials I talked about earlier.
