i bought this hammer at a local ace on sale.i`ve used estwing in the past.
but this hammer really is a different animal.not only do you not have to swing with as much force but once you get used to the feel it almost falls on the nail naturally.
i`m used to california style handles so it took getting used to and i bent more then a few nails trying to hammer with my normal force.but once i did i realised i was`nt using my arm or shoulder nearly as much and i could use it a lot longer and it was`nt as tiring as my DEAD ON 21 OZ cali.
i let a buddy borrow it for a day when his hammer was M.I.A. and he bought one the next day.
only thing i miss is no nail holder for the odd angled shots.
i`ve talked to some who HATE these hammers and some who LOVE them.i LOVE mine.
but hold it and see if its right for you.the guy at the store that i bought mine let me try it out on some scrap he had and i was sold.

Go to the hardware store before you buy August 16, 2009

Just bought the 21 oz head fiberglass Estwing at my local Orchard hardware store for $28.32. I have a photo posted here with one of my older Estwing hammers and the newer fiberglass model just purchased. Stikingly different in looks but still both have the same excellent blue dimpled grip.

Why go to the store first?

Price varies greatly on Amazon as well as at department stores. You also need to check out the feel, grip and overall weight of this hammer with other hammers.

Pros: Good grip and once you get used to it feels better than conventional style hammers.

Cons: None really but I would like to also try the 17 oz version.

I was working on my house and was recommended this hammer buy a firend of mine. This hammer makes it easy to swing and you don't have the arm/shoulder pain that you get from other hammers. The weight forward makes this hammer hit with more force and less impact on my body. I recommend this Estwing hammer to everyone! It's worth the money!!!!
