Rockin Pick November 14, 2009 HappyMaid (Goldendale, WA USA) High quality. It was a little bigger than I expected. Made in the USA! I also bought a cover for the pick as it is very sharp.
I got this for my Dad July 11, 2009 Karl Krotke 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I can't say much about this product. I bought it for my Dad who is into rock hunting. I asked him what brand/type of hammer to get and he said this one. I assume it's a good hammer, but the price was a little higher than I wanted to pay.
great hammer.. Just the right weight July 4, 2009 B. Doran (Los Gatos, CA) what can I say, this hammer rocks! ;)
it is slightly bigger than the standard 14 oz, but not as heavy as a sledge. I carry it with me whether I'm working on seds or ultramafics...works for both!! Not nearly as painful as trying to chip away at an unweathered peridotite with a 14 oz!
Excellent tool March 27, 2009 G. Kirschner (Minneapolis, MN) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
An excellent tool for rock-hounding! Sturdy and functional. (NOT A TOY - Do not give to unsupervised children)
It WILL last a lifetime... February 18, 2009 OAKSHAMAN (Algoma, WI United States) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have had my Estwing for 30 years now- ever since Geology field camp as an undergrad. It has held up with no problems at all. It hasn't even needed grinding to re-point it, but then I work primarily in softer rock. It has split and chipped its share of glacial erratics, however. There are fancier looking hammers out there, but the one piece construction and molded-on grip will truly last you a life time.
