3 out of 5 stars Worked okay after needed adjustments made   February 21, 2009
Mike (SoCal, USA)
I'm a general contractor. The first job I did was with 18" porcelain tiles. The first tiles I cut were not snapping on the cut line, or would split off. I did a close inspection and discovered that the cutter blade was "dog-tracking" over the snap bar, and the fence was not set to 90 degrees. I was very disappointed in the quality control at the factory. I should not have had to adjust a new tool in order for it to work properly. After adjusting, I would still infrequently have a problem with the tiles not snapping straight the whole length. I'm not sure if it was due to the tiles being approximately 3/8 inches thick or what the matter was. I resorted to using the wet saw thereafter. These tiles were too expensive to have so much waste.

1 out of 5 stars Problems cutting porcelin tile   February 8, 2009
Charles G. Fries (S.F. Bay,USA)
My experience with this tool was very negative.I was unable to get a clean cut using this tool. The tile I was cutting was porcelin tile which has a harder surface than regular ceramic tile. But,I ended up with broken tile.My large porcelin tile cost over $6 each, so I couldn't afford to use this tool.Note: As a general building contractor ,I do know how to use tools properly.

3 out of 5 stars Nice cutter but product information is incorrect   November 7, 2008
Itsirk (Sycamore IL)
I just received this product to use cutting my 20 inch tile on an angle. No where in the description does it say that the tile cutter can only cut up to 14 inches on a diagonal as it says on the box. I went by the dimensions of the product which says that it is 35 inches long. The diagonal of a 20 inch tile is 28 inches, so I assumed this meant it can cut a tile that big. Nope! The length of the cutter is only 28 inches. So while I am betting the product cuts very well, the description needs to include the diagonal maximum too. Other than that I love the prompt shipping and customer service of Amazon. I may still keep the cutter, because I am not totally sold on doing a diagonal layout, but just be aware of this situation so you don't make the same mistake I did.

5 out of 5 stars Very Sturdy, Clean Cuts   September 16, 2008
Tim Ryan (Houghton, MI United States)
I researched several other products before purchasing this model because I didn't want to spend $450 on a wet saw. I even called the company to confirm it would cut ceramic and porcelain tile. I cut a 16 X 16 ceramic tile effortlessly which yielded clean edges. The fabric carrying case is sturdy and well made. Who needs a wet saw when you have this, unless of course you're cutting a 90 in a piece of tile. I use an angle grinder with a diamond blade.

5 out of 5 stars This is a great tool   July 25, 2008

Great tool to cut even thick tiles nice and fast. I like to cut tiles the "old" fashion way - rather than using a wet saw.
Cutting tiles with this cutter is just fun. It has a very robust body.
