Fair to good. Several reading required. November 23, 2009 F. Bell Not too consistent in readings. Have to go over the same spot about 3 times to get a fairly accurate idea of where the stud actually is. I am talking about smooth wallboard walls in a newer house. If I take readings about 2' higher then where it says the stud is, it sometimes is several inches off from the original reading below it.
Best Stud Finder November 8, 2009 Park Tachikabe (hawaii) This is the best stud finder I've ever used. While helping a friend install a flat screen tv, I borrowed this studfinder. Needless to say that I was so impressed, I ordered one through Amazon the following week. I've used it to install an AC unit through the wall. Very accurate and the lcd display makes it really easy to read. Best damn studfinder I've seen.
GIVES FALSE READINGS November 5, 2009 John Parsons After having a less expensive Zircon edge finder, i bought this center finder for putting up shelves on a drywall-on-studs wall. What a mistake! After getting numerous false and inconsistent readings, i again reviewed the instructions. No help. The dvd isn't much better so i called Tech Support in CA. . While they were polite, their suggestions were not helpful and did not include anything i hadn't already tried.
The unit is probably ok for standard walls with regularly spaced studs (16"), but for a wall with irregular studs or anything unusual (which is where you really need a stud finder), it is a complete waste of money and only serves to frustrate. One of the old types which sense the drywall screws with a magnet is far superior, in the instance above, to this unit.
I cannot imagine recommending this to anyone but an enemy.
THOROUGHLY DISAPPOINTED!
A handy and ferfect tool for me November 1, 2009 James Huynh (Philomath, Oregon, USA) I looked for this kind of tool for long time until I saw the local house builder used it, I check for the name and order from Amazon. It's very nice.
Simple and Easy October 23, 2009 D. Lee It is exactly what you are expecting and need in a stud finder. i don't understand how anyone has a problems with it.
