What A Machete! June 3, 2008 J. Vierra (Hayward, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had previously bought a cheap machete. It didn't cut very well, was hard to sharpen, and didn't hold an edge well. The Ontario machete was an entirely different story. This is one mean machete. The blade is heavier and feels like it would do a lot of damage even if it wasn't sharp. The metal is a bit softer and much easier to sharpen. With 5 minutes of sharpening you will have a paper-slicing razors edge. It annihilates weeds and grasses. I then tried some hedge and tree trimming on 1/4 to 1/2 inch branches and in 2 or 3 minutes I had trimmed 20 feet of bushes that would have taken 10 minutes with a hedge trimmer. And it's much more fun than a hedge trimmer! Just be careful, one careless stroke could do a lot of damage. I really like the enclosed handle. There's a good amount of room inside the handle so it doesn't pinch your fingers or get in the way in any way. The enclosure gives you a little more hand protection as you are hacking away at brush and a more secure grip that you are less likely lose hold of. I've only hacked around for 20 minutes or so, so I can't tell you how long the edge would hold, but it's so easy to sharpen I can't imagine this is a problem.
Nice February 8, 2008 Mark R. Beha (N.Y.) This very product was good for the price, strong and flexable, good finish on the blade, not for the weak handed however (heaver than I thought it would be), it will take some practice before I try to split some kindling with my other hand holding it. I plan on getting a shorter one that's easier to control someday. The "D" shaped handle is nice for control but prevents me from holding with two hands.
Excellent anti-zombie weapon November 20, 2007 Anti-Zombie Infantry Squad Leader #1.5 (Under Your Bed) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I fight zombies and ninjas in my spare time. This machete was a real asset in smacking zombies up when I didn't have time to reload my water pistol or assualt parakeet. It has a cool handguard and looks really wicked mean. Know what I sayin'? Also great for potty-training small children and disciplining furry animals such as kittens and in-laws. I love Harry Potter, yo. Snape will catch a hot one if you keep this blade handy.
