Sturdy, Easy to Assemble Storage Shelves August 18, 2009

I purchased two of these storage shelves through Amazon. I needed a shelving system for use in my 2-car garage to hold storage boxes and household supplies. These shelves have worked perfectly. Assembly is quick and easy, provided that you have a rubber mallet/dead-blow hammer (what I used). Simply line up the pegs on the horizontal beams with the holes in the vertical risers, tap them into place, and then drop in the plywood shelves. It's a little tricky assembling the upper vertical risers, but I was able to accomplish it on my own without much trouble. It took about 30 minutes to assemble each shelf (60 minutes total for my two shelves).
My favorite things about these shelves are: made in the USA from steel and heavy-duty plywood, not plastic; the packaging is minimal, so there's less waste; they are extremely durable and look great in my garage.
The shelves are extremely study: at no point have I felt they would not hold the load. I will probably fasten the shelves to the wall since I live in an area subject to earthquakes (San Francisco Bay Area). At the time I purchased these shelves, they cost $90 with free shipping. It was a great deal!
