So close... but not quite November 4, 2008 powderday (snow covered mountains) Like the other reviewers, I feel that this is close to what you need. I was on a budget so I bought this one anyway. You can make it what you need but for $240 should you really have to do that!? First, there is no padding on the faces of the metal plates so when you clamp it to the door tight enough to hold it as you drill it can damage the door... esp with softer woods. Simple fix is to put some thin high density adhesive foam on the plates. Second, the 2-1/8 drill bit is not carbide so dont even think of trying to drill through clean from one side. Also only plan on getting about 10 doors out of the bit that comes with it. To be fair, you cant buy another kit with a carbide bit for less than $400. So use the $160 you save and buy a nice SET of carbide bits! I dont understand why all these companies feel that its OK to skimp on the second most important part of the kit! Once you account for these two significant flaws the jig actually works pretty well. If youre not on a budget just step up and buy the classic engineering carbide kit.
Good for wood doors but metal? September 7, 2008 David (Milwaukee) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I used this on some wood doors. No problem once I figured out what went where and how to get it to tighten on evenly. But then I got an all metal door and door frame project. Again no problem on the main hole but there doesn't seem to be anything in the kit for a 1" bolt hole? I had to free hand that anyway! Yikes why did I pay so much for something that I had to do the old way anyway. And a metal door is when I need some help to keep the saw from walking... David
Get It Done! June 4, 2008 Sheila R. Karcher (St. John, VI USA) Purchased for a cabinet shop. Quality Professional tool. Whether it is one door, or 50, it is just what I needed to get the job done.

Idiot proof, but flawed October 24, 2007 Bob Roberts (Dixie) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This worked well for me. I don't have a ton of practice hanging doors so I was willing to pay for something that would prevent mistakes. It worked well, the lockset went in without a significant hitch. The one flaw I noticed is that the attached bits get dull quickly (the fourth hole was significantly more difficult than the first). Other than that I recomend the kit.
