Not For Me November 23, 2008 Spudman (Pasadena, MD United States) I like the idea of venting the hot dryer air into the basement rather than let it go to waste outside. So when the air diverter in our basement broke, I replaced it with this model. This particular model reeks of cheap and shoddy construction. It comes with two plastic clamps that promptly broke during attempted installation. I don't like the screen design on this model. Instead of sliding down between built in channels, this one has four points of insertion to keep it in place, four points that don't line up on mine. I've ordered a replacement for this dud already and hope I have better luck with it.
free heat November 22, 2008 pennysaver (CT) works great, easy install. everyone with an electric dryer should be required to have one.
Simple and effective November 11, 2007 clewis 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
We always felt guilty that all that perfectly good heat was getting pumped outside during the winter when we were drying clothes. The unit was simple to hook up, but took a little creativity to get it rigged up where the heat could actually blow out. Now our laundry room is the warmest in the house. It also blows miosture out into the house during those dry humidity months of winter. In the summer, we just flip the flap and the heat goes right outside. The house starts to smell like clean laundry so it that bothers you, don't go this route. We happen to like this. It also looks a little odd with the unit mounted on the wall in the laundry room. If your laundry room aesthetics is important to you, this unit would not be good. If you are practical like us, you won't mind and it serves as a monument to your practicality. Does this make a massive impact on our heating bills or anything? No, but it sure makes us warm and feel a lot less guilty.
