Product Description
These professional quality carbide tipped bits are designed to drill flat-bottomed holes. Use with a drill press, or with a hand drill and our exclusive JIG IT drill guide (Rockler# 91981). All Forstner bits have a 3/8" diameter shank and require a 3/8 stop collar (sold separately) if used with the Jig-It Drill Guide. Shanks are 3 - 7/8" long.

Hi everybody,
I'm by no means an expert in wood working but i'm having a very good time learning how to make my own kitchen and bathroom cabinets not only to save money but also to do it my way and just for fun and entertaiment.
I use it with the rockler jig and i can tell you right now it's very easy, i can't talk about durability beacuse i have used it under 20 times only but the bit looks just like new.
What material i'm using for my practice? 3/4" MDF.
If you're like me, just a DIY hobbyist and you want to make perfect 35mm forstner holes for the modern european style hinges just combine it with the rockler jig and use it with your regular drill. The drill i'm using is a Hitachi DS12DVF3 12-Volt Ni-Cad 3/8-Inch Cordless Drill/Driver Kit i bought from Amazon few months ago and it works brilliant!!!
If you have a table drill press maybe you won't need a bit this long but i don't have one so this works perfectly for me. I'm wondering if this could work with my Jet 708580 JBM-5 1/2 Horsepower Bench Mortiser because of it's long shank
