Never disappointed September 28, 2009 FOXY (White Plains, NY) As always Ms. Jenkins has the ability to take her readers into a realm of make-believe but at the same time bring the characters to life. Jewel and Eli story is unforgettable and sweet. You will enjoy, well done Ms. Jenkins.
friends wiht perks June 14, 2009 James S. Bartlettsr (amherst, new york United States) this story is sweet read. full of love and family and support. All starts out inniocently as a friend asks his female friend to pose as his wife for a business deal and the gossips take it and run and its all over town, so either her reputation is ruined or they really have to marry. the guy is a player and has many females and like his freedom . but they do marry for decency and end up falling in love and making it work.
Jewel June 8, 2009 Nichole (MONROE, LA USA) This is a wonderful story set in a cozy and progressive community Grayson Grove. Jewel the main character pretends to be married to help Eli out in a business situation and because her reputation is on the line she is forced to marry him. Jewel resents the situation at first but she actually starts to melt when she sees how kindly Eli treats her. Eli is a descent man who has made some mistakes and needs to move on with his life. Jewel helps him move on and they create a nice life together. Eli and Jewel end up falling for each other and form a happy life together during the twists and turns of the story the supporting characters of Maddie, G.W. Hicks, Abigail, Crayton, his farther, Celeste and the Widow Moss make this an excellent read. I had to keep my dictionary out and refer to it often this author really has a way with words and vocabulary. She kept me on my toes. I was never bored with this story it had suspense, drama, romance, and plenty real life scenarios. It's a keeper. Mrs. Jenkins did it right kudos to her!
"Loosen Up My Buttons Babe!" February 10, 2009 L. D. Brown (Compton,Ca USA) I really enjoyed this novel from beginning to end. The storyline and the characters were fun. It just goes to show that love could be right under your nose and you don't even know it. I truly respect Ms. Jenkins' historical novels, they really make me think.
Jewel December 17, 2008 M. Nix Eli Grayson is trying to get the town newspaper up and running again, but no investors will risk their money on the confirmed bachelor. Having no other options he asks his long time friend Jewel to pretend to be his wife, just for the night. Soon the people of the small town find out about the marriage and Eli has no choice but to marry Jewel secretly so that he does not lose the paper.
Jewel never thought the plan was a good one and now she is angry that she is being forced into marriage. She plans to make the best of it until she can find a way out of the vows in a year or two. The attraction grows from a friendship into a true love match quickly, but will the sparks be put out when a former lover of Eli's comes back to cause trouble?
Jewel is a touching and sensual romance. Jewel is just the right amount of strong for a woman and Eli is the classic bad boy turned good man. I do think that Cecile was a bit over the top and the story would have been just as good without the bad guy plot. Overall I really liked Jewel, it was a good read.
